This week, I have the perfect holiday martini for you — the Turtle Dove.
This drink was nutty and strong, but super tasty (if you like nutty and strong). This is 5 ounces of alcohol with a little buffer/token cream to tone it down. Sip slowly and savor it.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vanilla Vodka (recipe calls for Van Gogh brand, I used Stoli)
- 2 oz Hazelnut liqueur
- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1-1/2 oz Cream
Rim martini glass with cinnamon and sugar crystals and set aside. Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into martini glass.
Full disclosure: I didn’t rim my glass. Yes, I know how dirty that sounds.

This drink (obviously?) reminded me of Christmas, so I paid a visit to one of my favorite Christmas-centric one-shots, Christmas Don’t Be Late by justaskalice, for a re-read.
Yes, I really used to love Christmastime. Then I got a job in retail, and all that changed.
Who can’t relate to that? Bella gets a book at Pages, a bookstore. Edward works in the back, the cafe portion of the store. Barista Edward? WIN!
I love how justaskalice artfully weaves details into this story. This is a great example:
Edward and I didn’t really interact at work, and I had decided that that was a real shame. The boy had a beautiful smile for one, and his laugh gave me tingles from my cheeks to my knees.
… and yes, Bella, he gives me tingles from my cheeks to my knees, too.
Edward invites Bella to his gig, and the two connect. I don’t even want to spoil where/what the gig is, GO READ. Best quote, though, is this:
“You’re still wearing your antlers.”
I’m still giggling. This story will make you smile, it will make you swoon, and it will make you believe in the magic of Christmas.

Join us on the Second Saturday of every month (unless Kass is late) for a new Sinfully Delicious Cocktail with MsKathy!

This drink was so fantastic, I can’t even tell you! It was gone in under 5 minutes, and even my husband commented at how great it tasted. The mango flavor was fresh and fruity, and the mint was a lovely background flavor, not too overwhelming. I wasn’t sure how the mint and fruit would go together, but it was perfect. Give this drink a try, at home or out, if you like sweet (but not cloying), fruity drinks. Be sure to use fresh mint, and muddle it properly in your glass.
