Full Disclosure

The Federal Trade Commission has ruled that bloggers must disclose if they are being paid or compensated for their posts. In order to comply with this ruling, we have come up with this brilliant full disclosure policy to let you know about our business.

Business should be in quotes, by the way. The Fictionators™ is a blog/website that is written and edited by Caren and Kassiah. Our sole purpose is to talk about the stuff we like, namely books, fic, drinks, and swoony boys.

Sometimes we recommend products to you that you can purchase. The Fictionators™ is an Amazon affiliate. That means that if you make a purchase after clicking on one of our Amazon links, we will receive a tiny percentage of the purchase price, including purchases you make while on Amazon that we did not link directly to.

It works that way with Barnes & Noble, indieBound, The Book Depository, and Cafe Press, too.

How much money are we talking about? Well, so far, none. But if by some miracle, every single one of our readers rushes over to Amazon and purchases Magic Cream and we do make a profit, we’ll use the money for shipping, to fund a giveaway, or for site maintenance. If you all want to go big and buy a kindle or a nook (hey–we’re not biased, buy a Sony Reader or even an iPad), then we might have enough money to go to Vegas or on a cruise. If that happens, trust–we’ll blog about it so it’ll be just like you’re there with us. There will be bewbs, Fictionees.

We’re not holding our breath for that to happen. The fact of the matter is that we pay for almost everything on the site out of our own pockets–the hosting fees, the site maintenance, and most of the books we review. Sometimes we get books from publishers or authors, with the expectation that we’ll review. If you’re still reading this, you know us–and you know we’re not gonna lie. We don’t do that. So, if you send us your book and it sucks, we’ll tell you, along with all of our readers, what we think.

Are we going to start telling you where we get the books we reviewed and how much we paid for them? No. We can’t keep up with all of that. So, suffice it to say that sometimes we get stuff for free, sometimes we pay for it, but all of the time we’re honest with our readers and keep it real. Providing quality, relevant content to our readers is our priority and always has been.

You might see advertisements in our sidebar, when you subscribe to our feed, or on some of our posts. Ya’ll know the drill–we aren’t endorsing those products, unless we are (and then we’ll tell you). And either way, we’re not forcing you to buy it or click on it. The bottom line is: we’ll tell you about what we like because we think you’ll like it, too. Not because we’re trying to sell you something.

After reading all of this, if you want to send us a book to review (or just want to send us a present!), you can contact one of us via our handy dandy contact form. You can also ask us any questions about our site the same way.

Now that that’s all out of the way, did you need some Magic Cream?

xoxoxo–
Caren & Kassiah
