Official Description:
After witnessing the brutal murder of her parents, sharpshooter & former Olympian Bella Swan is forced to live under a new identity as a high school student in tiny Forks, WA. Will unexpected feelings for the wrong man be her undoing or her salvation? AH
When I first started reading Arms I thought the title was involved with Bella’s chosen profession as a sharpshooter, but in reality it means more than that.
In this story we see a troubled Bella trying to do the right thing for her and for the family she just lost, but how do you do that if you think that that you keep putting everyone in danger?
How do you find that sense of peace and home if you are in constant hiding?
How will you ever feel safe again like you did in the arms of the one you lost?
It all started when Bella saw how her parents were murdered in cold blood, right before her eyes, and became a key witness in a long-standing federal case against an internationally wanted crime family. Because of this, Bella’s life has been replaced by a necessary charade.
She is playing the role of a minor and in need of a foster home.
That’s how she meets the Cullens.
Now In Forks, Washington, Bella starts experiencing a full-on case of survivor’s guilt and a part of her doesn’t really want to be free of the dreams that replay the horrors of that dark night her. Not like she could stop them in the first place.
That’s why Bella decides that it’s less likely they’ll get hurt by the ones that are trying to kill her if The Cullens don’t get too attached to her, which means interacting with them only when it’s necessary.
Bella grows more introverted, something she never was before her parents death. She believes that it’s easier and safer to keep them at arm’s length.
Since Bella is posing as minor, she must go to high school, though in reality she is old enough to be working on her masters. She’s not very keen on the idea of what going back to school entails. I mean, really, who would like to relive the drama, the cliques and the boring homework? But, she plays the charade, and goes to classes.
It is in school where our accident prone Bella runs smack into destiny (cheesy line, I know). She literally runs and falls in the only arms she had ever felt safe in, besides her father.
Too bad that said arms come attached to no other than her new math teacher and adopted child of the Cullens, Mister Edward Cullen.
Yes, is forbidden love for Bella and Edward, but how really forbidden is it, if in reality they are both closer in age than one of them believes? Why can’t they seem to fight the connection?
Do they even want to?
That’s for you to find out as soon as you start reading this story.
VirginiaMay is a great author and she will keep you on your toes in every turn. Don’t miss out in reading this great story. Now, if you’ll excuse me, chapter 12 is calling for me.
Till the next time,
xoxo-Mina
