Camisado is a fantastic, original and beautifully written story that will keep you on your toes, wondering what the hell is going on from the very start. In the first chapter we see Bella leaving a note for Alice and preparing to leave her home, making us believe she is running away from her life. In reality, she is an undercover agent sent to extract Edward, also an agent, who has spent the last four years of his life as part of a criminal organisation.
It’s a high risk job but someone has to do it and Bella has her reasons.
When she gets to the compound where they all live and work, her first task is to make them believe that she and Edward are already a couple and that she has come there to be with him. They will kill her if they are not completely convinced.
Edward falls into the role easily, having been told before going in himself, that he would one day be saved by an agent named Isabella.
Their task now is to maintain the facade that they are a genuine couple in love whilst finding a way to leave together and take with them any other unwilling “guests”.
All of this is extremely difficult considering the cameras and microphones that are strategically placed in all the bedroom suites. It means that they are “on” all the time.
What I love about Camisado is that it successfully combines an exciting plot with an amazing love story. The passion that Edward and Bella have for each other is beautiful. It starts off fake but the lines become blurred so quickly that you will wonder when they are acting or really feeling what they are saying. As this story is all told from Bella’s point of view, Edward is a mystery that unfolds slowly. We see that he has demons….four years doing the bidding of criminals and murderers will change a man. Bella has arrived in the nick of time to save him not only from the organisation, but from himself.
When I read the first chapter of this story I was like what? Huh? How does Bella even have to pretend to be hot for Edward? It just didn’t compute. But then I realize, that Bella isn’t pretending for long and neither is Edward. This story has a mix of hotness, mystery and action. You get so wrapped up in the characters that you can’t wait to get to the next chapter. Give Camisado a chance and I am sure you won’t regret it.
At the time of this post, I’ve only read the first ten chapters of this fic, but I really like it so far. One of my favorite shows was Alias and this reminds me of it a little bit–a mysterious, controlling organization, a fake relationship that turns real, and the overwhelming sense that things just aren’t what they seem.
He scoffed and shook his head, a bitter smile appearing on his face.
“Edward…” I murmured softly, slowly moving forwards until we were just feet apart. He looked up and gazed into my eyes, his expression intense. “What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” he asked as he took a step forwards. I nodded, swallowing hard, then gasped as he suddenly reached for me and crushed his lips to mine, cradling my face in his hands. I let out a low groan and let my eyes fall shut as his kiss grew more forceful, then stumbled slightly as he turned us both around and started walking us backwards.
I grimaced when I accidentally put too much weight on my foot, but the pain was quickly replaced by something else – not quite pleasure but just as intense – the moment my back hit the bathroom wall and he pinned my wrists up above my head, pressing his body hard against mine.
His lips angrily parted mine as he pushed me harder against the wall, holding both my wrists with one hand as the other reached down and hitched my bad leg up around his hip, allowing him access to grind himself against me. I whimpered into his mouth, pushing my hips forward as his towel began to slip from his waist, then groaned when he pushed himself back from me and dropped my leg back down to the floor.
“That,” he said harshly, his gaze fiercely intense. “That is what’s wrong, Isabella.”
Though I admit to not knowing what the hale is going on, really, I am definitely along for the ride. Give Camisado a chance, I think you’ll like it!
