Kassiah says: A few weeks ago, I was whining to Saranic78 that I wanted to read a story that had a mature Edward and Bella with hot sex and a real plot. She pointed me to Cocktails & Dreams. It had been on my TBR list, but I kept putting it off. Because of the summary, I thought that it would be another one of those stories where Edward and Bella had a one-night stand and then fight each other until they finally give in and decide to be together. It isn’t. It soooo isn’t.
I want to provide you with a snippet fromthe very beginning of this story:
“Mmmmmm…”“Touch me there…yeah, right there…”
“Uuhhnnngg…”
“Wait! Wait!”
“Are you kidding me?” Soft laughter
“Wrap your legs around me tight. Tighter!”
“Oh my Go-I’m going to-“
“OH, Fuuuuck…”
Yeah. The story starts out with Edward and Bella getting it on. They aren’t strangers, but they haven’t seen each other in years. Bella bails before Edward wakes up, and while he doesn’t remember that he was with her, he dreams about the girl all the time. Even before he figures out that Bella is his mysterious “dream girl”, they become more than just friends or “friends with benefits”.
One thing that I really love about this story is that Edward and Bella embark on a grown-up relationship, dealing with issues from miscommunication, not being able to spend enough time together between juggling work, school, and friends, and parents that may or may not hate their significant others. It is definitely a fuckhot story, but it is also emotional and real.
Cocktails & Dreams also has some of my favorite depictions of the supporting characters. I love this Emmett and Jasper. I even like Rosalie in this, even though she is a bitch. Most of all, I love Charlie in this story. He is a protective dad like we are used to, but he helps guide Bella to make the right decisions about her life. Even after catching Edward and Bella together, he has an adult heart-to-heart with the guy who is fucking his daughter, telling him to take care of her and be good to her rather than busting out the shotgun.
This story is funny, sexy, has great dialogue, and conveys emotions authentically. If you are looking for a full length, almost complete story with some drama, a little angst, and a lot of love, this is the story for you.
