First Person, Present by AccioBourbon

Official Description:

Peter and Bella prepare to leave for college, but the most important lessons about life aren’t taught in a classroom. A story about getting out from under the expectations of others and learning to rescue *yourself.* An FGB story for Team Peterella.

Don’t miss the beginning of their relationship in the Peter Anthology in Jumping into the Deep End, and the extras: Chelsea Morning and The Past, Discounted!

Once upon a time, long, long ago, I was introduced to the glory of the alternate ship.

No more was I bound by the limits of the same two people, falling in love, facing the same challenges, doing the same dance, over and over and over. Instead, there was new blood, fresh excitement, and the very real possibility that there might not be a “Happily Ever After,” after all. (I’m not saying it happens often, I’m just saying it’s possible.)

My first love, as many of you know, was Jasper and Bella. So much happiness in this duo, just waiting to be discovered. However, in my quest for ever more, ever better J/B, I stumbled onto something I never thought I’d read: Peter/Bella.

I know, right??

What I love about this ship is the intensity that Peter can bring to the table, coupled with the freedom that Bella has to explore who she is, when not under the crushing weight of her perfect love with Edward. It’s a fantastic pairing.

And no one has captured it quite the way Accio Bourbon does in her story “First Person, Present.”

This story started out as snippets in a Twilight 25 compilation, and is now being completed as its own multi-chapter fic. In this story, a dumped, slightly drunken Bella latches on to an older, terribly attractive Peter one night at a party. Instead of the story becoming a cliché though, it turns easily on the delicate balance between falling in love, and growing up.

Peter is still finding himself as well, but he knows what he likes, and he sure likes Bella. As he says in one of the first chapters of this story:

“Bella, Bella…” He takes my hand and turns the palm up, kissing the center. “I could get awfully sweet on you.”

Still, the two have their stumbles. Bella is only eighteen, and Peter is several years older. And college is looming in the future for them both: Bella wants to chase her dream of becoming a journalist, and Peter is struggling between what he wants for himself, and what his family expects of him. Together, they try to find their way, both for themselves, and for each other.

This story is told from the point of view of both Peter and Bella. The characters are rich and textured, and never, ever leave you feeling been there, read that, skipped the t-shirt. Instead, when their hearts ached, so did mine. When they giggled with happiness, so did I. When they fell in love? So did I.

Listen, I can’t recommend this story enough. It is beautifully written, completely captivating, and most importantly, it tells the truth.

Please give it a read and some love. You will be so very happy you did.

Thank you so much, lady! A rec from you means the world to me. <3

And I have to thank Kassiah and Caren and Aylah here at the Fictionators. They've always been so supportive of those of us who play in the non-canon end of the pool! Love you all, ladies!

I have to admit that I used to be a major canon couple type of woman. However, recently, I have started to read alternate pairings and have fallin completely in love. This will be my first Peterella to read and I’m excited to be doing that. Thank you to AccioBourbon for writing it and for the Fictionators publishing it.
