These are the first words LadyExcalibur2010 uses at the start of her fic, From the Cup of Duty. Readers, reading this, it was an instant attraction. Then…
Suddenly, about three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a royal King.
Second, there was a part of him – and I didn’t know how dominant that part may be – that needed secure a queen for his kingdom.
And third, baby making shall ensue.
All corny-ness aside, this story is worth your time. It was short, silly, and sweet. King Edward is a bit stupid at first unbeknownst to the way of wooing a woman, but he makes valiant attempts. He uses this particular line these in order to chase down fair Isabella:
“I merely explained to her that I was both rich and powerful, not to mention handsome and young and able-bodied.”
Thankfully, he gets his wits about him and comes to the realization that Isabella is no ordinary woman easily wooed by the promise of jewels and mentions of an able-bodied man such as himself.
It takes a lot of advice from the Barron, Isabella’s father, and her borthers, but, eventually, our regal man is spitting out lines much like this:
“You are all the dowry I require, Isabella.”
Let me recount my reactions for you: Swooon. Instant goo. Awwwww.
Readers come forth and give Royal-ward a try. The author creatively uses the Twilight characters and puts them in roles you haven’t seen before. Besides, who doesn’t love a good chase and a muscular King Edward holding babies?
Once again, if you are looking for a light-hearted read that garners smiles and laughter, From the Cup of Duty is well worth your time. I guarantee you will be aww-ing on the other side of that screen. =)
