Official Description: Sometimes, you can’t fight chemistry, no matter the situation. “I know all your favorite spots and tonight we will connect the dots.” Jasper/Bella. AH.

LaViePastiche says: Alright, I know me rec’ing a Bella/Jasper fic is like… I don’t know, Canon Bella rec’ing a fic about Edward. It’s a no-brainer – but I gotta tell you, as much J/B as I read, I will actually rec very little of it, because I am a picky mofo. So when I tell you it’s good, trust bbs – when it comes to the Jasper, I will not lead you astray. Now I don’t wanna bore your brains out listing more reasons why this fic is so wonderful, because I am sure Red and Ellegna have already said everything better than I, anyway. So instead I am gonna break it down for you bullet point style, because I am concise like that.
1. This fic is smart. Sometimes the really smart really pretty fics don’t get the most reviews because they don’t shell out the sex and entertainment right up front. It’s like maybe an art-house film compared to a blockbuster. Whatever, blockbusters are great and I’m not hating, but that art-house piece will make you think, it’ll teach you things, and it’ll probably make you feel a whole hell of a lot. It make take a little more investment to read because you have to use your brainpiece and whatnot, but it’s worth it in the end!
2. It’s smart, but not pompous or boring. There’s some suspense here. There’s something we don’t know about Jasper and his life. There’s something keeping our two heroes (Bella and Jasper) apart, and we’re left on the edge of our seats wondering what it is, why it is, and what the hell Jasper is going to do about it. It keeps your attention, on top of being well written, which ain’t easy, lemon squeezy. It’s not all verbose and wordy, the chapters are a perfect length for my ADDness and always leave you wanting more. She can set a scene and pull you in without describing every movement the character makes or taking four paragraphs to describe how they buttered their toast. I really appreciate that.
3. It’s Jasper. And ungh, really sexy, smart, workingman Jasper. Suit and tie and spectacles wearing Jasper, and a kind of cool, kind of sweet Bella that compliments him well. They are so chill together, that you’ll find yourself hanging, waiting with bated breath, for their moments together. I live for that crap.
I could keep going but really, you should just stop reading this and go read it. And for the love of God, please review ok? It has eighty-four reviews for four chapters and while that’s not bad, it really deserves a lot more. And just to whet your palate a little bit, here are my favorite parts:
“…he already knows her. Knows her body, her likes, her dislikes. He knows how to take her to the ledge and lead her over it, and so he takes steps to make that happen.” (Tell me you are not all Oh Hale to the yes! after that.)“Their kiss grows and morphs into an entity of its own, as it usually does, and somehow, he pulls her even closer to him. They are a knot of limbs and souls and palpable emotion, and he tries to show her that, despite the circumstances that surround them, he wants her – only her.” (Durr…thems purrrty words….)
“Good Morning, Mr. Whitlock. Maria is on line two.” (OH SHIT. You know you’re in for drama when Beelzebub, I mean, Maria is mentioned.)
Ok so if all that plus the recs from Red and heavyweights Ellegna haven’t convinced you, then you are just a lost cause, I guess. Baby, don’t be like that.
ellegna says: Good Jasper/Bella stories are far out-numbered by their E/B counterparts, so as soon as our dear friend AHelm started posting this, we were immediately all over it. We are introduced to our favorite couple [Elle: Our favorite… right, Legna?] as they tiptoe toward a moment of intimacy. It is clear, during the first chapter and the following, that there is something illicit about their relationship. One of them has something holding him or her back, which is preventing them from truly being together…. After Jasper leaves Bella’s house and we meet Maria, we have a better idea about what’s going on. However, even four chapters in, we still don’t have the entire story. What we do know is that Jasper and Bella fell for each other immediately upon a chance meeting at an art gallery, and that neither is happy with their current situation.
Our favorite couple’s [Legna: Yes, dear. Favorite.] unhappiness with their situation, but not each other, is what drives this lovely story. It is clear that they are in too deep, love each other too much, to let each other go. But neither can they tolerate their current circumstances for much longer. AHelm is parsing out little clues about the obstacles to a public acknowledgement of their love. She gives just enough in each chapter to keep the reader interested, and the pacing is wonderful. Best of all, nothing about it feels contrived. Jasper and Bella’s connection is believable and relatable, and Jasper’s feelings of being stuck in his situation with Maria are oddly relatable as well, even though we don’t have the full story.
We were in love with this story, as Jasper and Bella were with one another, from the start.
RedVelvetHeaven says: WOW…what can I possibly add to all that?? All I can really do here is throw my two cents in and say that this story has gotten under my skin and I can’t stop thinking about it. AHelm’s seductive and mysterious start to this fic had me right from the beginning. She continues on, doling out the pieces to the puzzle little by little. She gives you just enough to answer your questions, but then leaves you asking more…and wanting more. I love this story…plain and simple. The chemistry between Jasper and Bella is palpable. You want for them to be together so badly…but then enters Maria. And the drama begins….
If you are not normally a non-canon pairing reader, or you have never tried one, I think this is a great one to start with. If you are already a Jasper/Bella lover…then you’re gonna love this!
