MF’er says: Pastiche has crafted an intriguing past/present look at Edward’s life before and during his time in Forks. We see his memories of the past, how he behaved when he was feeding on human blood. In the present we discover that he’s attempting to atone for it by agreeing to work as a clinical psychologist. Bet ya can guess who one of his patients is.
Yup, Isabella Swan. The bloodlust and attraction is much the same for him as it is in the books but the development on the characters is so much stronger as we get a look into his past indiscretions as well as seeing the relationship blossom between E/B during their therapy sessions. I also have to say that as much as I love E/B – I’m crushing hard on Pastiche’s Jasper and that sexy adorable southern drawl. (Hey, sue me, I love me some Jasper). I’m absolutely entertained by the ass ogling Emmett, too. This story is most definitely one that you don’t want to miss out on!
Kassiah says: Madame said it all and really the only thing that I can add is that I think this story is so incredibly beautifully written. I personally really love getting the peeks into Edward’s past. The depth of the characters and the amount of research Pastiche Pen must have put into this story is clearly evident. Oh, and I think that this story has the best banner I have ever seen. Pastiche Pen is also the author of the popular The Nymph and the Waterfall as well as several other worthy stories.
Mozzer0906: This dark AU fic flashes back between the time periods when Edward left Carlisle and Esme to find his own way and the Twilight time frame. Edward uses his gift between the two time periods in very different ways – in the first he uses it to bring killers to justice, in the second he uses it as a psychologist. His unique gift helps him decipher the mind and problems with his patients. Until he meets Bella Swan – whose mind is closed to him and whose blood sings to him. As in Twilight Edward is immediately intrigued with Bella, but unlike Twilight he has a different role in this life. He is not pretending to be a peer, but rather a doctor, a healer. One of the things that stands out in this fic for me is the level of research that Pastiche Pen has put into each detail. The slangs of the time, the cultural references and counseling methods all add to the rich story that she is weaving for her characters. I highly recommend this.
