In Your World by solostintwilight is a twilight fanfiction placing Bella in the world of Amishward in West Grove, Iowa. (A story inspired by a lovely Vanity Fair picture of Rob in that black hat.) She is running not only from herself but her past in Forks, Washington. Her family has not shown her much love and her boyfriend is cruel, possessive and abusive. She finally had enough and fled on a bus that broke down amongst the corn. Was it fate? She finds herself in the simple world of the Amish amongst strangers that become more of a family than she has ever had over night. They welcome and love her providing her sanctuary from whatever she was running from.

Originally her plan was to hide out for a few days until her past gave up on finding her, but she falls in love with their life, being part of a family that works and loves together. Her inherent kindness is a virtue they recognize. Her gift in the kitchen brings something to the family and she wants to learn more.

More than anything, meeting the elusive Edward, nephew to her adoptive family, makes Bella want to stay. He too has experienced loss of love in a different form, his family taken from him. He retreats into himself giving up his path to becoming a Bishop, trapped, and barely keeping his family farm running. He is determined to keep it going, but in Bella he truly comes back to life. She is his muse. He begins to write again. He dreams of a life with her by his side. He longs for an extra pair of hands, an extra heart, all that is Bella to fill his home and his heart.

Love is flowing on the farm in several relationships, some old and some new. Edward and Bella fall for each other a little more each day. They are both innocent in that respect and are learning and exploring together. Get ready for romantic talks on the porch swing, evening strolls, frolics in hay filled wagons, and up against the wall of the barn and in the corn. Oh the corn.

Yes I have a new found love for corn…and hay. ;-)

Life in West Grove is not devoid of problems. The Bishop of their community still has hope that Edward will take his place and is threatened in more ways than one by the English girl’s presence (Non-Amish are considered to be “The English”). Someone still seeks Bella, and the outside world threatens the life she is trying to find with her new family. She must say good bye to her former life which she is willing to do, but she fears they will not let her go. The story has reached a time for angst and worry, but I have faith, yes the story inspires faith, that these two will make it in their world.

Ever since I read The Cannabean Betrothal, I have been drawn to stories like this. There’s just something about a sweet, shy Edward who has a deep responsibility to his church and family that makes me swoon a little bit.

The amount of research that solostintwilight must have put in to writing In Your World is evident and is one of the reasons that I like it so much. I love the characters and the way they interact with each other. I especially like this Bella, who has obviously been through so much but seems to be getting stronger and stronger.

I also can’t help but giggle every time they mention pie.

He sat up at my approach and fought the smile on his face.

“Would you like apple or blackberry?” I asked softly, struggling to hide my smile when I watched him lick his lips as he eyed the plates in anitcipation.

“You made these?” he whispered and looked up at me with those penetrating eyes, glimmering with something like excitement.

I nodded and felt a surge of pride wash over me when his smile brightened.

“Must I choose?” he asked, a hint of mischief in his expression. The same amusement he had shown me the day before when I had tripped on his laundry.

I glanced back towards the family, their chatter distracting them from our quiet conversation. I looked back down at Edward, his eyes still amused. I tipped the slice of blackberry onto one of the apple plates and settled in beside him, offering him the double slice with a smirk. He took it from my hands eagerly, his fingers brushing over mine as the plate slipped from my hand to his.

His soft blush and downturned eyes made my skin burn.

“Thank you, Bella,” he murmured and cut off a sizable piece of the apple, slipping it into his mouth.

I watched as his eyes closed, his jaw moving slowly as he chewed. He hummed softly, the deep tenor of it rumbling through his chest. But his lips had me mesmerized as he chewed. They moved with his jaw, turning up slightly in a contented smile as he took another bite, this time from the blackberry.

Again a soft hum and smile, his eyes opening slightly to look down at me, in a slight daze. A silent conversation seemed to move between us, and more than anything I wanted to touch him. To feel that connection. But Emmett’s booming voice broke the spell, Edward’s eyes clearing as if waking from a dream.
“Isabella, that was delicious! Do you think there is any more left over there? Edward, come let’s get another piece of Isabella’s pie before it is gone!

Every. single. time.

I do wonder when it’s going to hit Bella that she really misses modern conveniences, like electricity and shampoo, but I think what she went through in the past is enough for her be willing to give them up.

Besides, what’s electricity when you’ve got Edward Cullen feeling you up in the back of a wagon?

Electricity, schmelectricity.

Definitely give In Your World a try. xoxo

Great review, Elli! And Steph deserves every bit of adoration. I mean who doesn’t like pie? ;)
