This story hooked me from the very beginning for a variety of reasons, but one huge one is the way it took me back in time to being 15 years old again and being completely obsessed with NSync and Backstreet Boys. TKegl really has the boy-band theme down to a science. Let me introduce you to the members of 5Point. We have EC Mazen (Edward) who is of course “The Heart Throb”. Then you have “The Sensitive One” (Jake, a.k.a Whispers), “The Big Brother” (Emmett, or E-Dog), “The Bad Boy” (Jazz) and now they’re on the hunt for “The Cute One”.
This is where Bella comes in. She wants nothing more than to be a singer, but given the cut-throat nature of the industry, she doesn’t feel like she’ll be taken seriously by being herself. So when she sees the mega pop-stars 5Point are holding open auditions, she jumps on the chance. So with Alice’s help, she transforms herself from Bella into Billy.
Did y’all know that TKegl is a gifted song writer?? 
She writes all the lyrics used in Just One of the Boys and they are so completely perfect that you would think she ganked them straight from BSB or NSync circa 1999. Take a listen…

One of my favorite parts is right after Bella/Billy joins the band, and E.C./Edward begins to feel something a little unusual…
I was helping Billy out with some steps. Suddenly, I just got this weird… feeling. Like my stomach did this flip-floppy thing.
And not only was my stomach flip-flopping again… but I was getting a certain telltale tightening in my pants that left no doubt as to what I was feeling. I was getting turned on. By a dude.
So, with no relief in sight, I rubbed one out… and pretended I wasn’t thinking of Billy the whole time. It became a pattern. I was living a secret and I didn’t know how long I could keep it up. We’d rehearse together…. I’d go home and jack off. We’d go out to a bar… I’d go home and jack off. We’d sit around the pool… I’d go into the bathroom and jack off. You get the idea. And the whole time I was fighting the idea that I was what I obviously was. Gay.
Oh, poor E.C. Whatever will he do?
Just One of the Boys is funny, sweet and perfect. Every update has be anxious for who will be the next to discover Bella’s secret, smiling so widely from how adorable EC Mazen is and panting in reaction to the thick sexual tension. After every chapter I want to fangirl all over TKegl like a 5Point groupie and I know that if you give this story a go, you’ll want to do the same.
I love this story, it’s cute and fun and a nice break to my regular angsty reading. TKegl has done a fantastic job of creating some wonderful characters. I’m looking forward to everything that’s going to happen as Bella continues forward with her new identity. It’s definitely going to be interesting!!
