I have one of my new fav’s that I’m offering up to you today…Just out of Reach by theonlykyla.

I have read fanfiction for several years and have found so many Edward and Bella stories that own me. So much so that I read nothing but E&B stories till just this year. I just couldn’t make my mind wrap around either of those two with someone else. But I have to say that one of the stories that changed my mind was JOOR! I just couldn’t help but fall in love with her characters! Let me explain…

I was trolling around on Facebook one day and up pops a message, “Does anyone want to read what I’ve written, I need a second set of eyes.” So, I responded. I began to read what little that she had written and by the time I was finished I begged her for more! Several chapters, pictures of characters and even a banner later…I’m pre reading for her and still loving the story. For so many reasons but mostly because it’s not always that you get to see the supporting characters take on such a big role and shine. And like I said before, I do so love me some Bella and Edward. I’m proud to come out of the canon closet and say, I have now moved on to the world of Slash and Poly. Just out of Reach falls somewhere within the Slash/Poly yet still canon world. Is that even a sub category of Twilight fics??? I don’t know but it should be.

Here is the summary for the story… Edward meets someone at college and decides that it is the time to explore his sexual nature. Even if that means taking on a relationship that is not the norm. After several weeks together both parties are happy with the relationship, although, one more so than the other. How will this second party react when Edward admits that this is not the way he wants to live the rest of his life? That this relationship they have is just a new exploratory thing he is going through. There is some hurt and sadness there but it increases when by a fluke Edward’s cousin shows up to visit Edward and brings along two friends. Edward falls head over heels in love with one of the friends, hurting his original partner and the other tag along on this visit.

Sounds a little vague and confusing? Well that’s because I can’t reveal the names and spoil the surprise. Just know that you will see all the normal characters but in a new light. Each one will shine and tarnish with a spark of real life that makes you love them at the same time that you hate them.

Edward will have so many great qualities but will be so painfully unaware of his surroundings that you want to beat the hell out of him.

Bella is both sweet and sassy, but in the beginning she is so mousy that you beg for her to come out of her shell and just when you’ve about given up on her doing so, her sass pops up. It makes you want to cheer her on harder!

Alice is broken and believable in this story. So often we her so bright and bubbly, ready to shop and dress Bella up, but not in JOOR. You see the side that makes you want to take her in your arms and hold her until she is all better. Don’t let that fool you though she builds a shell around herself and pulls her life together.

Jasper, well first let me say that next to Edward he is my man! I love him and this fic does nothing to harm that love. In fact it builds it up even further. He is also a little broken. He struggles to find where he belongs and how to get there. How to pick up the pieces of all the things that have left him behind and move on.

Rosalie, well to me she is the biggest surprise written. Normally we see the cold, standoffish Rose. Not here…she is warm, caring, funny and she works real hard to hold all of the pieces of the puzzle together. She is the glue here and she does a fantastic job of becoming not just likeable but loveable.

Emmett, well we do see him in a more traditional role of his fun loving self but he is much more subdued here and still manages to help hold the group together without falling into the dumb jock routine at all.

All in all, theonlykyla has crafted a story that sucks you in and makes you feel for the characters. It makes you want to smack them, love them, and make it all better for them so they can ride off into the sunset together as one big happy group!
