A few months ago, I chose Milk as one of the one-shots that we read for the Readalong. I was trying to find stories that featured different kinds of love, and this was my selection for obsessive love.
I don’t know how to describe this story, except to say that it is totally completely fucking awesome. It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever read. And, I’m not gonna lie. You would be shocked that I am rec’ing this kind of fic to you. But that’s one of the great things about one-shots. You get to read something that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise read. Experience something that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise experience. Think about things in a way that you otherwise wouldn’t consider.
Like this, when Bella watches her regular customer Edward walk away from the counter of the coffee shop:
I wonder if Edward Cullen knows that I’m obsessed with him.
I mean, I could say that I’m obsessed with a lot of things. Lockersecks. Orange Juice. Anderson Cooper. But am I really? TeamBella23 takes our idea of obsession and twists it. Into what true fixation really means.
Tonight after she goes into her apartment, I’m going to slip a letter into her mail box. I can’t wait to see her face when she opens it. I can’t wait until the day comes when we can be together. She wants to; there are signs.
Bella virtually bounces as she walks; white head phones on her ears, head moving with the beat of whatever type of music she is listening to today. Her finger wraps around the cord, unwinding only to wrap back up again. She flips through her IPod finally settling on another song. Bella’s fingers dance at her side.
Silent hellos to me.
More signs that it’s just a matter of time before we can finally stop these fucking games and just be together.
The walk to her apartment isn’t long and soon enough Bella is hopping up the couple of steps that lead to her front door. Digging through her purse, she finds her keys and opens her door. Before she steps in Bella pulls off her worn Converse, she is wearing green socks.
From across the street I can see into her kitchen; her curtains are open. Bella drinks from a bottle of water, grabs an apple from the refrigerator, picks up her phone and closes her curtains.
I’m blind.
A rush of anger surges through my body; I hate it when she does this shit, fucking taunting teasing bullshit. Bella gives me just enough to keep me from sleeping at night. She allowed me see her pick up the house phone to make a call. Who the fuck is she calling? Is she trying to make me jealous? Does she not know that I would kill for her?
Maybe its time I start letting her know that I’m tired of these games. Maybe I need to let her know that I’m in this for the long run. Maybe it’s time to let Bella know that she belongs to me entirely.
The dialogue and the way things unfold in this one-shot are amazing. It’s hot and that feels wrong to me somehow. But that’s the way life is, I think. I’m not going to tell you more about this story, except to say that I definitely think you should read it. It’s different from anything I’ve ever experienced. It’s compelling.

Okay, you twisted my arm. Going to read Milk!!
Thank-you for taking the time in doing this for me. Milk isn’t a easy read, and it freaks some people out. Lol. It’s an honor to be featured on this site, and truly apprehensive.
Let’s try this again…. my phone freaked out last time I tried to leave a message. Thank-you for taking the time to review Milk. I know it’s a risky OS… I’m truly thankful and honored. Really, I have no words to how thankful I am.
