The story takes place 10 years after Bella and Edward were separated by events that spiralled out of control, leading them to make decisions that cost them dearly. They loved each other desperately, but both fucked up hugely in the past. In present time, a big life-changing secret is revealed that forces them to deal with the consequences of their actions. Now they have to find a way to heal, forgive past hurts and fight to get their HEA.

With every chapter I am awestruck at how incredibly well written this story is. The plot is handled with emotional depth and maturity. Nothing is contrived; the characters’ actions, while questionable, are entirely plausible. It’s firmly rooted in reality, and the complexities of human emotions are dealt with in a thoughtful way by the author.

BellaScotia does such a great job at exploring the human flaws in her characters. Despite their mistakes, you totally get where they are coming from. Even the secondary characters have depth. They jump off the page, fully formed, with an authentic voice. She steers clear of the clichéd characterisations found in most other Twilight fanfics. I’m telling you right now, you’ll fall madly in love with Jacob, and you may find yourself rooting for him the most (but not in the way you think). This is an Edward/Bella story.

Underneath the sadness is an ever present thread of hopefulness, as the characters are inexorably drawn towards a future brimming with wonderful possibility. They are learning to forgive, not only each other but also themselves. Bella is the more reticent of the two, with good reason, but Edward is a man on a mission. The progression of their rekindled relationship and their increasing intimacy is wonderfully paced. Nothing is too rushed or too slow. There are no major lemons yet, but I know that they will be scorching. How do I know this? Well, see for yourself:

I agree with everything Adeli said–this fic is not cliché. It has an amazing, multi-layered storyline with genuine characters and UST that is off the charts. It has one of my favorite Charlie’s and certainly one of my favorite Leahs. I love the way that the characters deal with everything that’s going on (and has gone on in the past)–Bella and Edward recognize that there are real-life issues that can’t be solved just because. I don’t want to give away anything about what happens, but I hope you’ll check it out. I ♥ it!
