[dcs_p]My palm heated as if hot coals were just beneath the stone. An electrical jolt traveled up my arm and flooded my entire body. I stood stunned, knowing that my mind was snapping. It must have been the heat; I must have needed more water.
The weight of the suffering grew, and for a reason I could not understand, I leaned against the hot stone. First my forehead, and then my ear, listening for… something.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]I almost buckled under the pain of the sound that radiated through the wall. I removed my ear, and there was nothing, no movement in the chamber at all other than my own breathing. I listened again, and there it was, still wrenching and twisting my insides.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]It was a woman crying, sobbing in horrific pain. My rational mind fled entirely, and I darted through each chamber until the bone-dry air of the outside world hit me. I didn’t stop until I found the tools I sought, immediately returning to her wall, disregarding the curious stares and questions that followed me. I was not alone in the chamber any longer, but I didn’t care who had accompanied me.[/dcs_p]

Amarna, Egypt, 1889, Dr. Edward Cullen is in charge of an archaeological dig when he unearths an interesting find. He doesn’t understand the draw, the energy that seems to be pulling him to this artefact. In fact, he thinks that he’s going crazy. Still, he can’t ignore the draw and the voice that only he seems to hear (in his head).

And so the story begins.

She Who Must Be Obeyed is a captivating tale of fantasy and adventure with a little history thrown into the mix. The reader is taken on a trip to 19th century Victorian England and Egypt as the story unfolds. It truly is a mythical love story between two souls as they find the path that leads to their destiny.

There is a big back story on Bella and it’s extremely fascinating. Who she is, her true identity is essentially an unknown legend intentionally buried by those who “held” power. Edward slowly uncovers her true story, however, this discovery is tempered by the fact that he suspects that he’s slowly losing his mind. The reader is whisked back into ancient Egypt when Pharaohs and Queens ruled that civilization. We see how Bella lived her life and how it essentially ended.

As for Edward, little does he know the importance of his role in the overall story. His life, her life, their destiny becomes tangled as it’s woven through the delicate and supple web of time. It’s like peeling layers of an onion – each little bit of information is dropped and revealed as each chapter progresses.

If you’re familiar with WutheringBites’ writing, you know that she’s good at taking individual events and facts and slowly bringing them and molding them together. It’s kind of like solving a little puzzle, there’s intrigue and mystery. It’s as if The Mummy and Indiana Jones had a baby, this story would be it. The author does an excellent job of suspending disbelief and replacing it with this fantastical tale. Give it a try. For sure you won’t be disappointed.
