I’m proud to admit that I’m an obsessed Edward and Bella fan. I tend to look for E/B stories that have a great plot, slow burn, lots of UST, then throw in a little mystery, and don’t forget the angst, and I’m hooked. That’s exactly what you’ll find while reading Someone Like You by Bellasunderstudy1.
Edward had moved the previous year from Chicago to Denver, where his cousin Emmett lived, when his marriage to Heidi ended due to several betrayals she committed against him. After divorcing and moving to Denver, Edward became half-owner with Jasper of Extreme Adventures, an outdoor adventures company.
Bella is a ballerina who was attending school at Julliard in New York when her life was almost ended during an act of violence committed by her jealous ex-boyfriend, Demetri. After being damn near killed by him, Bella recovered but could no longer dance at the level she had been. She accepted an instructor’s position in Denver working for her childhood dance instructor.
If you’re a dog lover, Bella’s Doberman, Remi, just happens to be the coolest retired police-trained K-9 guard dog responsible for protecting Bella in Denver. He was sent by her worried father, Charlie, and he is a very important character and adds the perfect amount of humor to the story. When Remi interacts with Edward, there’s bound to be a territorial dispute over her. Man versus dog. My votes on the dog!
Edward and Bella met when they were jogging in a way that I’m sure both of them will always remember. Hell, I know I will…
As we rounded a bend in the trail, I stopped dead as a feral growl ripped from Remi’s chest. Before I could react, he shot forward in a full out lunge. All I saw was a blur of black and a flash of copper before I heard a rush of air fly from the man’s lungs on a curse as he hit the ground.
“Pfui, Remi,” I cried as Remi stood in the center of his chest, nose to nose with him. “Ablegen.”
“Shit,” the man groaned as Remi jumped off his chest and lay down at my feet, his eyes never leaving the man lying prone in the dirt of the forest floor.
“Oh God, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you…” I trailed off as I squatted down beside where he still lay flat on his back, eyes squeezed tightly closed.
“Are you okay? He didn’t actually bite you, did he?” I asked, clearing my throat and swallowing the anxiety fluttering in my abdomen.
“No, I’m fine,” he ground out through gritted teeth.
What I loved most about their meeting was the instant attraction they had for each other. I could almost feel the UST sizzling between them through my computer screen.
“I’m… I… really am sorry, he’s, uh…” I trailed off again as the crooked grin turned into a full out smile, showing off perfect white teeth.
“No blood, no foul,” he said as his eyes slid over my face and down my body.
The intensity of his stare was burning my skin and shooting emotions through my system that I wasn’t completely sure how to handle. I felt breathless from the simple act of him looking at me and that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. The sensations running through my body from nothing more than a look from this man were unlike anything I had ever experienced.
“I’m Edward Masen,” he said, raising a brow in question as he extended a hand, continuing to smile and taking my breath away completely.
“Uh… Bella… Bella Swan,” I replied, taking his hand, my eyes widening at the feel of his much larger hand engulfing mine. The electricity that popped between the two of us was overwhelming, terrifying, completely confusing, and exhilarating all at the same time.
Bellasunderstudy1 could have made Bella paranoid or skittish after the attack, instead she gave Bella an inner strength that I admire. Even though Bella suffered so traumatically at the hands of Demetri, she is the one who helps keep Edward moving forward in their relationship, as he is the one who tends to hold back.
Angst, humor, romance, drama, and mystery are a few of the reasons you should read Someone Like You. This is Bellasunderstudy1’s third full-length story and it shows… her writing and storytelling abilities are truly special.
