MF’er says: It’s no secret that I’m a lover of pretty much anything involving Jasper. After Mozz sent me the link for this I dug in and though I don’t read all that many AU fics, this one hooked me in quick. The author spins a canon scene from New Moon (Bella’s 18th Birthday) into a different perspective and outcome which leads our favorite characters on path’s I personally never imagined possible. This Bella is strong, confident and a total badass riding a BMW motorcycle and kicking vampire butt with a mysterious weapon that could possibly put her in danger… While Jasper has become unfeeling and cold, working for Aro and the Volturi after being left jaded because of a misunderstanding. The actions of the other Cullen’s (Mainly Edward and Alice) have sent both of these characters off into a life neither of them expected and when they meet back up again, the potential for something new and great comes to them both before they can even realize what’s happening. I’m so anxious to see where these characters are headed and to find out the mysteries that have been carefully laid out in the chapters that have been posted so far.

She sent me this epic recommendation list and this was one of her favorites. From the very first chapter I can see why, The Air I Breathe begins with JPOV where you find him detached and broken – an unfeeling mercenary working for the Volturi. You read on because you have to know what facilitated this change in his life. This is a significant departure from the canon characters and I’ll admit it was hard to let go of the canon preconceptions at first, but eventually I found myself completely entranced with bad-ass Bella and cold-hearted Jasper, hoping that they will melt the ice around each other’s hearts.
