jgulia45 says: I started reading this story after falling in love with ItzMegan73’s other story, A Rough Start. I am always looking for fic that isn’t your run of the mill high school or grown up storyline. This one is SO different. While some people may be turned off by hearing how this Cannabean lifestyle is run, I love learning about it. Although I haven’t fact checked the author, I am pretty certain she has done her research. The most intriguing thing to me in this story is Edward. I have no idea why he is so jaded, but he has thrown himself into this lifestyle as a way to protect his heart from being stomped on again. We still don’t know the details on what happened, but you can tell he was wounded pretty badly. As a result, he’s all but obsessed with following the Cannabean lifestyle to a fault. Enter Bella; and while she is devoted to the lifestyle, ItzMegan does a good job of showing that she does have other ambitions that put her outside of Edward’s small little box. It usually only takes me about 10 minutes to quit what I’m doing when I get an alert for this story. READ IT!
Kassiah says: I have to tell you, when I first heard the name of this fic, I thought it was some kind of Jamaican Wedding Adventure. Since I am close to being hospitalized for my obsession with A Rough Start, I decided to give it a go. I am so happy that I decided to read it!

A clannish society, often compared to Amish or Mennonite communities. Although more accepting of modern conveniences such as electricity, technology and the like, Cannabeans do not subscribe to the mainstream ideals that plague modern marriage, nor do they believe in the dissolution of marriage. Their daily living is centered on their faith, family and a firm foundation in the Cannabean Way.
ItzMegan has well-developed characters, excellent dialogue, and amazing descriptions, yet still manages to keep us on the edge of our seats with the mystery and beauty of this tale. It’s intriguing and has one of the most original plot lines that I have ever come across. It’s chaste, yet hot in its own right.
When asked by Charlie why he should be allowed to court Bella, Edward’s response was absolutely swoon-worthy:
“Sir, I can’t imagine what it would be like to love, nurture and teach a daughter from birth, and then have some man sit before you and try to qualify himself as worthy to be in her life,” Edward paused, already hating his answer and not being able to take it back. “Bella is the epitome of what any Cannabean man could hope to encounter, if only to know what kind of woman was truly intended for man. She’s kind and giving, respectful and reverent; even when she thinks no one is watching… And, sir, I will expire my last breath striving to be the man worthy of that.”
I read a lot of stories and this is one of the few that without a doubt, I drop everything to read as soon as it updates. I am refreshed by both Edward and Bella’s characters, and I cannot wait to see what is going to happen with this story. Definitely a must read!
