Official Description: Coffee-addict Bella pines for her regular customer, but finds herself unable to throw a whole sentence together around him. Attempted comedy, sarcasm, TV/Movie references, some sweetness. Short story. M for eventual resolving of UST i.e. lemons/sexytimez.

MsKathy says: The Daily Grind is a consistent, sweet, romance between Edward and Bella.

Don’t mistake “consistent, sweet, and romantic” for boring, though. This well-written story, which began as a one-shot, has seven delightful chapters posted, out of what the author says will likely be ten (Dear letmesign: be prepared for me to beg for more chapters, js.).

In the original one-shot, we learn a ton about each character. Bella works at the Daily Grind, a local coffee shop. Edward, a law student, comes in regularly. Finally, during a game of thirteen questions (twenty is too many and thirteen unfairly gets a bad rap, says Bella), Edward admits that his daily trips to the coffee shop are to see Bella. Steamy times ensue, with a promise of some interesting future moments between them.

The expanded storyline includes delightful dates, witty banter, and a lot of resisting each other. They both want to wait for the “right” moment, neither one seeking out a quick fuck from the other. Normally, I might roll my eyes at that premise, but here’s the fun thing about TDG – it just works. These two are so loveable that you believe it’s genuine that they don’t want a quick romp. Neither is a virgin, so it’s not like they’re saving it for marriage, they’re just trying to wait until the right time for the two of them to come together (that’s what she said).

I think I say in each chapter review that this reminds me so much of my own dating life. Chapter 5 made me giggle hysterically when Bella can’t resist Edward, even while sick, and ends up getting sick herself. Yep, totally done that.

Lines like these are where TDG infuses citrusy goodness:

He came up behind me, rested his chin on my shoulder as his arms enclosed my waist, nose buried in my hair. “I love smelling my shampoo on you,” he whispered, kissing along my ear. “I love picturing you in my shower.”

Chapter 7 finally sees some action between these two, and it is hot. I am sure we’ll see more in the future, and I know it will be just as delicious and steamy. Need a break from the angst in life or ficland? Give this sweet story a try. I bet you’ll like it.

MF’er says: I have a serious girlcrush on letmesign right now. This is a treat to my inbox every time I get an update because it’s full of happiness and butterflies. I can’t lie… I even admitted this to her, what drew me in: the banner. Specifically… the quote in the banner.

”Why do you come in here every day?” I asked quietly, reaching out absentmindedly to play with the coffee cup that was still sitting on his table.

“To see you.”

After I dug in I realized quickly that she’s given the fandom a piece full of excellent writing, lovable characters and realistic pacing to a relationship. Many times stories move too quickly for me and they don’t give the characters a chance to develop individually or as a whole. That’s not the case here. The slow-build and the UST is off the damn charts and after the most recent update, I’m panting and breathless just like Coffeward was. If you’re in need for a story that will leave you with a smiling face, you’re missing out if you’re not already reading this!
