Every once in a while, you come across a one-shot that doesn’t give you a just a snippet of cute n’ sexy times, but manages to tell a complete story with motivated characters, emotional attachment and so much great dialogue that it really sticks with you. For me, EZRocksAngel’s The Merman hits that mark.
As if the story itself wasn’t preciousness in a perfect little package, most of it actually takes place over the summer at a community pool with a twenty-something Bella and a freshly-legal eighteen year old lifeguard–a green-eyed, bronze-haired and deeply tanned hottie who instantly catches Bella’s eye. After ogling him from behind her sunglasses–and with some encouragement from her partner in crime, Alice–Bella ends up talking with him. When the attraction is clearly mutual, he’s eager to please and eager to learn, and Bella’s on a mission to teach him everything he needs to know to be the perfect boyfriend. For someone else. To her, it’s only a summer fling with a much younger, fuckhawt man-boy.
“What time do you need to be home?” I ask, wrapping my hand around him, feeling a little strange asking the question. But I have ideas and plans for the rest of the night and most of them take place in this car.
“Whenever,” he says, tugging my shirt over my head. God he’s handsy.
Whenever is perfect. Whenever is fine. I decide then to do whatever we can do between now and whenever.”
Gah! This story is sexy as hell. And there’s something so very identifiable when you’re reading it: we’ve all had those infatuations, those giddy crushes from afar… the guy at the pool, the grocery store kid, the bartender. Those of us who are beyond our teenage years have fantasized about what it would be like to mold and shape a hot, malleable man-boy with our knowledge–to wield that sexual power… This story takes us there. It’s hot and heavy and lovin’ in backseats of SUVs and locker rooms and filled with fulfilling all those primal wants and needs.
The summer winds down and the two of them part ways–there’s no unnecessary drama; they both knew it was coming. Suddenly, we’re fast-forwarded two years to the University of Washington where Edward’s a sophomore. Bella’s moved on, but no guy she meets can quite compare to the boy she’d helped shape into a man two summers before. The romantic in me was dying to know what happened when they finally crossed paths once again.
I wasn’t disappointed. You won’t be, either.
I can sum up my feelings about this story in one word: ohmahfuckinggawd.
Yeah.
You guise know EZRocksAngel. You know she writes incredibly hot, amazing things. But this…I think this might be my favorite.
So I can watch him.
Who is he?
He is the eighteen-year-old lifeguard at the pool.
I am a twenty-four-year-old woman who is nannying for the summer, before I go back to grad school.
He is one step away from jailbait (his birthday was eight days ago. Yes, I checked.).
I am not necessarily a cougar yet, but closer to cougar than high school girl.
He is hot, and by hot, I mean holy crap. And by holy crap, I mean, when I first saw him, I thought he was twenty-one. Minimum. And possibly an angel sent from heaven. Or the devil. He looks like the devil in angel’s clothing. Did I say he was hot? Because really, he is absolutely gorgeous. He has this back and these shoulders. They are so wide. And then he has this chest. It’s all yum and stuff and I just want to touch him. Once.
I may be desperate, but not that desperate, because even though he has the body of a twenty-five-year-old he has the mind of an eighteen-year-old, and I just don’t need to go there.
“Think of the stamina.” Alice [says].
I mean…I just can’t articulate it. DeeDreamer did a much better job of telling you. But I’m saying read this:
I take a step back.
He takes one forward.
My stomach drops to my feet.
“That was the hottest thing ever.” And I can tell he means it and instead of thinking, “I’m going to ruin this kid, because this is wrong,” I think, “I’m going to ruin this kid, because if he thinks that was hot, wait until I show him the rest.”
Just–god.
It ended exactly the way I wanted it to. Trust me–you want to read this right now.
