Don’t miss The Outtakes and Extras!
If you want a story with everything: temptation, desire, romance, humour, drama, mystery and a very hot, manly, successful but messed up Edward – look no further than BellaDonnaCullen’s ‘The Practice of Love’. If you haven’t experienced her fics before, where have you been??
BDC’s Edward had testicular cancer when he was nineteen, its removal and following treatment made him a survivor. As the story progresses we find that Edward controls everything in his life in order to prolong it.
Bella lives her life successfully. As a newly employed doctor for an aging Carlisle, she works hard and follows the rules -but a certain patient shows up without an appointment and throws her a curve ball.
This is not just a budding romance though with predictable outcomes. BDC doesn’t just tackle the issues of Edward’s um… tackle, she shows us a determined but slightly fragile Bella who has a huge battle on her hands to protect her daughter Ness from her real, extremely messed up, father. The men in her life fight to protect her, sometimes with success and sometimes with life threatening results.
Bella’s daughter is a fantastic character, a complete joy, not at all nauseating as some fic children can be despite her occasional realistic temper tantrums. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ness hasn’t won BellaDonnaCullen some fic awards already!
This is not an instant HEA either; it’s complicated and deliciously teasing too. Did I mention Edward’s jealousy?
“Jacob’s going to love it. I know it.” Alice flashed a playful smile my way, and gave the guy at the register a little wave good-bye.
“Well, thank fucking Christ for that,” I muttered sarcastically.
“Play nice, big brother. This is a business meeting, for both of us. Be on your best behavior and all, or I’ll tell mom.”
“You’ll tell her that we were buying little boys beer in New fucking Jersey?”
“Seriously, watch your mouth today, Edward. Try being nice for a change. He’s your client’s boyfriend.”
I sighed and slid into the car. “You think I can just change to suit the situation? Bella hired me, and my mouth. And she’s my client, not him; I don’t owe the little boy anything.”
I can’t seem to do BDC story justice with my review, just know you will be gripped.
“Whatever the hell this was, it was not going along with my plans.
I studied the badges of officers Crane and Davis. Philadelphia Homicide.
Fucking cops. Fucking homicide detectives. Homicide.
My next emotion: fucking dread.”
Whilst reading I may have forgotten to breathe at times, I probably neglected the kids a tad; I definitely tapped the hubby for his er… assistance. Don’t just put this on your ‘to be read’ list, make it your next read.

Belladonna is not only a fantastic writer, she’s also someone I consider a dear friend. As an author she has it all: intelligence, eloquence, creativity, etc., etc. Please read her other works, she’s a phenom, and I can’t wait to see her name on the bestseller’s list someday.
