Now, I won’t read just any AU. No, I’m picky. I don’t want to read something that has been done to death; I want to read a fresh take on things. This is why I’m in fic-love with the story Price of Balance. The summary for this fic instantly pulls you in, and get’s you wondering. The writing makes you fall in love all over again. The fuckawesome story leaves you begging for more. There are 8 chapters of this story posted, and within every chapter are little hints and things that make you think. Once you find out the plot twist, the subtle way the clues and small details are woven in will make you appreciate the story all the more. The way that the author, averysubtlegift, spins the tale of Bella, who’s had a rough go at life, is gripping and compelling. Now, granted, her Bella has a tragic past, but she isn’t whiny like most Bella’s tend to be in her situation. This Bella appreciates the small things in her life that ARE good, instead of dwelling on the laundry list of negative things that could drag her down. Enter Edward, tall, delish and beautiful. And really, is there anything better than that? Yeah, moving on… He enters this tale all enigmatic, handsome and… barefoot? What the Hale is going on here?! He is sweet and mysterious, trying to make her smile and slowly getting to know her. But, he has a secret. A. Very. Big. Secret. And I promise you, you will be anxious to read on and find out what the fuck is going on once it is revealed. I’m so wrapped up in these two, watching this unstoppable love affair brewing, even as circumstances prevent them from what they both want. Whether it is Edward preparing a disastrously messy, but still yummy dinner to impress her while barely having the nerve to steal a kiss, or her small, super cute attempts at flirting with him, I love every little bit the author has given us. And, this story has, quite literally, my favorite mental image EVAH in fanfic. Chapter Six. Holy Shit. Just sayin’… Can Edward pull off the job he has to do, or will his growing feelings for Bella get in the way? Can love really heal Bella’s wounds?
