The Space Where You Belong by morethanmyself

Official Description:

Jaded with love and resigned to being alone, Bella moves across the country to start over. There, she meets her quirky, bronze-haired neighbor, who just might change her mind.

I have a thing about well-written, underappreciated stories. They deserve so much more pimpage than I could probably give, so I was a little giddy when the Fictionators asked me to review one – The Space Where You Belong by morethanmyself.

This is the story of Bella, who has moved across the country to Jacksonville, Florida to start a new life following her divorce from Jake, her now, ex-husband. Bella wants a fresh start in her new life, away from the pitying eyes of her family & friends, but she also isn’t completely over the devastation of her past. However, she won’t have a lot of time drown in her sorrows, because Edward appears on the scene and is nothing if not persistent.

Edward is smooth, sweet and clearly cares about Bella right from the getgo. There is a bit of an age difference, 8 years, with Bella being older than Edward, and this makes Bella a little hesitant. Thankfully, she’s not hesitant enough and when Edward invites her for a ride on his motorcyle (insert swoon here), Bella begins to let down her guard and things heat up.

“You are allowed to be angry; you are allowed to kick hundred-year-old buildings if it helps,” he said with a small teasing smirk that did nothing to belie the conviction behind his words. “And feeling that way doesn’t make you bitter or spiteful, it makes you human. But, god, Bella, life is so much more than being married to a guy you didn’t love because it let you mark off some goal on a check list.”

He paused then, blinking back some hint of pain that she didn’t understand, before going on, “You only get one; don’t ever take that for granted.”

Though this story is only 7 chapters in, it’s chock full of realism, sweetness and smiles. I’m cheering for Bella to let go of her past and give things a shot with Edward. I’m loving her Alice and Rosalie, but at it’s heart this is a true Edward and Bella romance, and it’s lovely so far.
