Official Description: Sequel to A Life Extraordinary. Love beyond sanity meets the real world, and both Bella and Edward struggle to find balance. How does forever look with your beloved when you want to own every second of every day? AU, Rated M for…oh, you know why.
I generally don’t read AU fics, but every once in awhile there’s one that just draws you in and you can’t ignore it nor get enough of it. I’m talking about Lolashoes “Let Your Light Shine” followed by “A Life Extraordinary” and now “This Hungry World”. That’s right the Blissward and Vampella that we all love so much are back
I pretty much squealed when I was asked to guest review her sequel fic to ALE, but then I got all nervous. How do you put into words the amazingness that Lola has created? The fact that Lola wrote it should be reason enough to go read it. But if that doesn’t get you running to FF then let me try to explain why you should.
In “This Hungry World”, we move from the Pacific Northwest to New England, New York to be exact to attend the Culinary Institute of America with Bella, Edward and Jasper. For the Cullens it’s a new adventure at trying things they love; for Edward and Bella, it’s a chance for them to find a balance as they enter the real world out of their comfort zone of Forks. Even though you know that these two can pretty much accomplish anything together, they still have their fears and insecurities about what lies ahead.
“Will we be split up?” she asked quietly and suddenly. It was an obvious question but it shook me that I hadn’t considered what it meant. Most likely we would be split up during orientation and during classes; perhaps even most of the days at times. Neither Jasper nor I were sure to be able to watch over her, reassure her, guide her. She would have to be on her own in the same world but with a new body and a vastly different mind.
“Probably.” I tried to keep my voice mild and unconcerned as I looked away and up at the stars. I wanted her to believe that I wasn’t worried about how she would fit in, although admittedly I was. It had been so long since we had been around groups of humans. At Canlis we had only ever worked with Chef Pélu and a couple others, never with a large staff. Bella hadn’t been around more than three humans at a time in months. I didn’t know how it would affect her gift, her habits, her confidence.
I cursed my lack of planning, my selfishness. I cursed my need to keep every second for myself, for keeping her sheltered and inexperienced.
I felt her turn to look at me, assessing my tone. I knew she saw through my attempt at nonchalant. “Yeah,” she breathed, before I felt her look away again.
We gazed up at the sky for a while, lost in our own thoughts: thoughts of everything new ahead of us. I wasn’t yet sure that I could pull off the cooking thing regardless of my gift. She wasn’t sure she could pull off the human thing regardless of her control. In either case, we were both mostly powerless to help the other very much.
It was a new world for both of us.
Bella is just wrapping up her first year as a vampire and entering the world of college for the first time. Lola has a way of displaying the real emotions that people would feel facing these type of events in their own lives. In both chapters 2 and 3 we get a sense of Bella’s fears and nerves, the same kind that pretty much everyone feels the first day of orientation or school. Lucky for Bella, though, she has her husband and brother in law to help her get through it, oh, and a psychic sister in law to tell her what to expect. Lola had me reminiscing about my own college experience as they toured the campus then separated into groups to talk about themselves and meet their fellow classmates. This is really the first time Edward, Bella and Jasper interact with new people since Bella’s transformation and it’s quite amazing to see how much more sure of herself and outspoken she has become with people she doesn’t even know. We are introduced to new characters, some that I think will be fun, causing plenty of laughs and others that I think will cause some headaches such as Chef DeVries and a cocky ass named Andy. I’m excited to see what she plans to do with these new people. I have a feeling that all three of them, Bella especially will be pushed.
The amazing thing about her Edward and Bella is their relationship and Lola never fails to show the reader the strength behind it, especially their physical one. In ALE we’re treated to nearly 47 chapters of smut so you know that lemons will not be lacking in “This Hungry World”. We know that Edward and Bella are into some kinky stuff and are insatiable for each other and that is proven even more when Bella is left to decorate their new house in New Haven.
“A TV?” I asked, feeling a smile tug at my lips.“For home movies only,” she whispered, threading her fingers into my hair. “No cable or satellite.”
~~
There were probably thirty pictures of us, all black and white, all different sizes, artfully tiered and layered across the simple cream paint.
The remaining images were ours and ours alone to see, and I groaned as I took each of them in. They were neither chaste, nor simply suggestive. They were outright pornographic, and they were divine.
Bella’s small hand wrapped around my erection.
My face between Bella’s legs; my mouth was buried in her soft folds and my eyes were closed in complete bliss.
Since LYLS, Edward and Bella have been trying to find that balance between their constant need to be with each other, to spend time with their family and do the things they love. That struggle is going to be even harder with them attending school, but I have a feeling that our Blissward and Vampella will accomplish it together, just like they do everything else. The story is only 3 chapters in, possibly 4 by the time this is posted so you have plenty of time to catch up if you aren’t up to speed yet. Plus, if you’re a visual person like me, then you’ll love that Lola has a blog to go with this story where she posts yummy picture teases.
MF’er says: Blissward is love. That’s all there is to it. If you’ve been living under a fucking rock and have not already read Let Your Light Shine and A Life Extraordinary by now, I have to shake my finger at you and give you the *sternface* because you are seriously missing out.
Cannot wait to see where the new journey leads these wonderful characters that Lola has created! Cooking school, of all things. Who’d have thought? I can see there will be new friends, new places to live (and hump) – new bedrooms (filled with fuckhot pictures) and just blissful reading that leaves me smiling at the end.
There can never be enough Blissward.
Kassiah says: It’s no secret how much I love this Edward and this Bella and this author. I have been waiting for This Hungry World for what feels like practically forever. Even just from the standpoint of how Jasper is going to fare for the first time around humans without feeling bloodlust fascinates me.
Where LYLS was about the honeymoon and the change, and ALE was about their relationship and dealing with what that means, THW deals with them, understanding and embracing the way they feel about each other and how that relates to everything else.
“You seem to be the only one who isn’t doing something for himself.”
His expression softened in understanding. “I am,” he insisted, looking at me. “I am doing this for myself. I get great enjoyment out of watching you explore the world. I love watching your jitters, your excitement, even your anxiety because I see how real and how raw it is.”
“Is that it?” I couldn’t decide if I felt guilty for holding him back from something or frustrated that he wasn’t insisting on having his own adventures, too.
“Isn’t that enough?” he asked, letting some of his frustration out now. “Bella, I’ve been to school many, many times. The first few times I found it exhilarating and engaging. I was completely immersed in it, as you say. But yes, over time it does lose some of its luster. Long ago I lost the desire to meet and experience new people. I imagine that this will be a fun challenge, and I’m actually quite curious to see how it goes. But no, I’m not doing this because I have a passion for cooking or because I particularly need human friends. I am doing this because I love watching you learn new things about yourself, because I relish seeing you grow and develop, and because I absolutely cannot stand to not be involved in every big event in your life.”
His eyes grew slightly hungry and anxious he brushed some hair off of my cheek. “So I ask you again, isn’t that enough? You are my adventure. I’ve waited so long for you. Everything with you is new to me.”
One of the things that I really love about this story is how Lola hasn’t forgotten where they came from. These characters are canon. They went through what Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse Bella and Edward went through. They haven’t forgotten Edward leaving Bella, and luckily neither has Lola.
This is one of my favorite scenes, ever:
describe your high school experience in four words.”“Edward Please Fuck Me.” She held up a finger for each word and laughed victoriously.
Bella hasn’t forgotten how much she wanted Edward, and neither have we. They’re so playful and fun:
She giggled underneath me. “Edward, why did we come out here?”“To see the campus. To talk about orientation tomorrow.”
“And what are we talking about?”
“The fact that I’m about ten seconds from sliding inside you.” I slipped her yoga pants from her hips and she kicked them off. My fingers slid up between us to touch her bare flesh.
She groaned and spread her legs for me, reaching to unzip my pants. “How are we going to do this?”
I ignored the real question, instead stifling a groan as I felt her fingers slide underneath my boxers. “I’m going to move my cock in and out of you, and you’re going to like it.”
Holy fuck, I love Blissward. I love that even though the lemons are amazingly hot (how could they not be with Lola in charge), that is always, always secondary to who they are and who they are in each other. No other writer makes me feel this way. And for that, I am thankful to LolaShoes for This Hungry World.

Couldn't say better myself, ladies.Lola's Blissward and Vampella are love and all that should be! :]
Thank you guys! What a fun Friday surprise! You are a bunch of sweethearts. This story has been fun so far, and one of the challenges is trying to figure out how to contain all the possibilities within this one story. There are so many things for them to experience, it's almost overwhelming. Thanks for the rec and for sticking with me for my insanity in taking a stab at a threequel.
Can someone help me please!??! All of Lola’s stories are down! Does anyone have the site or place where I can download them?? Please and thank you!
Hi Jia! We get questions like these a lot, so we made a page that should help you find what you are looking for: http://www.fictionators.com/wheres-my-fic/.
