I first read this story some months ago and was immediately pleased to discover that Ms. Eddiescherry had been concealing some serious word skills! If you like writing that packs a powerful wallop in a petite package, this is perfect! Plus, the content is very daring–dark and passionate, the kind of story most writers don’t know how to broach properly. It has that classic vampire feel that is missing from a lot of current work. In fact, the main male, unnamed, (which I love) is clearly a predator that knows only the depths of his own self-satisfaction and is pleased (or so it seems) to be driven by this behavior. He is the stuff of dark dreams, of pulsing, gasping hotness mixed with terror. It’s a potent combination and I’m telling you, it takes some real guts and a grasp of classic Gothic writing to pull it off. I don’t want to give too much away, but let me say that the female of the piece could be any one of us. She reflects our most shadowed desires. I’ll share a little bit from the story that exemplifies this point:
Her eyes will not leave his, having no other point of reference worth considering.
Her center is ripe and the slick friction is so sublime it is nearly his undoing. This is how he will end her and them; surrounded by her wet heat, the pounding of her fading heartbeat in union with the pistoning of his hips.
It is unspoken, their implicit agreement, but it is there nonetheless.
The author goes right for the jugular of what is hidden away in our lusty little hearts. The story hits the mark of that black moment of surrender and desire and loss of control that people tend not to entertain for very long. We all enjoy the saccharin love scenes, the sweet, protective, profound affection… but sometimes… sometimes you want to explore the limits, the edges of wicked thought, the very farthest reaches of carnal mixed with lethal. “This Mortal Coil” does just that, and leaves you aching at the end, though I won’t say why. Read it. The story will make you think, and it’ll stretch your boundaries, which is always a good thing.

Awww…thanks so much, Jen!
