I normally don’t read short novella type stories, but when I checked out True Companion, by Bellamarie117, I didn’t look at the story length. I am so glad about that, because if I had, I wouldn’t have read it, and I’d have missed one of the most delightful stories I’ve read in a long time.
Bella is a wedding planner; Edward is a photographer. When they first meet, she is engaged, so he keeps his interactions with her light and friendly. At the time of the wedding, when this story takes place, she is now divorced and feeling pretty down about herself. Throughout the wedding from hell, with a bridezilla like none I’ve ever seen, Edward keeps Bella’s spirits up, and by the end, a sweet relationship is beginning between them.
I laughed and cringed at the antics of the bride, and groaned for Bella, when her ex appeared with his fiancé. But through everything, Edward comes along, helping Bella with a task, saying something kind to brighten her mood, and all the rest fades under his caring and attentiveness. They share a dance and a heart stopping kiss, and by the end, you know they have found their happily ever after.
I enjoyed the details about wedding planning. I was interested in all the little things Bella had to do during the wedding and reception, and after the party is over. Things I’d never really thought about before. Though it was a short story, I felt that I got a full romance and learned something about the behind the scenes aspect of weddings.
There is no angst in this story. It is warm, funny and full of love and happiness. I read so many heavy sometimes heartwrenching stories, and I often need something sweet and happy to contrast with that. True Companion was exactly what I needed to lighten my day. I reached the end of the story feeling happy, and regretting that there wasn’t more. I wanted more, wanted to follow Edward and Bella as their relationship moved forward. I wanted to see them working more weddings together and eventually planning their own. Isn’t that one of the best things you can say about any kind of story, that you love it and the characters so much, you wish you could read more about them? I loved it so much, I immediately went and read the author’s other story, because I wanted more of her incredible story telling. I am so glad I took the chance on this one.
I love bellamarie117 something fierce, so when she told me she was writing something new and then gave me the gist of it, I was so freaking excited. Yet again, she crafted a Bella I liked and an Edward who made me swoon swoon swoon.
“Don’t you have some snapshots to take?”
“Ouch, Swan,” he said, slapping his hand over his heart like I’d wounded him. “You know very well that every click of my shutter is a masterpiece.”
“Well then go be a genius and let me get back to work,” I said, shooing him off, turning away so he wouldn’t see the way my cheeks flushed when he laughed.
These two are adorable together and I loved the way this was written, short, sweet and to the point. If you’re looking for something to brighten your day–this one will do it for you. Go get some Shutterfly action, you won’t be disappointed!
I don’t even have the words to describe how much I love this story. It has the perfect amount of drama, angst, and hotness to keep on the edge of your seat the entire time. This has got to be one of my favorite Bellas and certainly one of the best Edwards:
Edward’s eyes were locked on mine, dark and intense with emotions that I wasn’t entirely sure I could define. The one that I did recognize without a doubt, the one that had warmth spreading swiftly in my belly, was lust. Pure, unadulterated want.
It had been a long time since I’d seen that look aimed in my direction but there was no mistaking it. No matter how confused I was, how many questions I had, how many hang ups and insecurities, there was no denying the fact that in that moment, Edward wanted me.
yessss. Read this story. Right now.
