Then there are the ones you stumble across that you wish were longer. Volition fits both of those descriptions. What started out as an Age of Edward Contest idea, put lovingly to words has become the thing I am dying to see turned into more.
The story is set in 1970′s Ireland. Bella’s quiet, peaceful life is disrupted when she finds a gun under her bed. Who is the owner of this gun, and what is it doing under HER bed? Ah-ah-ah, you gotta read to find out.
Enter Edward, the guy she has been quietly crushing on, her heart crumbling piece by piece as he takes other neighborhood girls around. He knows who the gun belongs to, and he has something to do with it. A bit of tension, perhaps a kiss, and this story is off!
Set amidst the backdrop of social unrest, with the I.R.A. and political drama, this one-shot makes your heart race as you frantically read on to see what happens after the explosive middle section leaves our two favorite kids running for their lives.
Is Edward as aloof as he appears, or has he secretly been noticing Bella too? What happens when they get to a safe, quiet location?

Full of vivid writing, heart pounding intensity and characters who are more than they seem at a surface level, this is an awesome read. I’m gonna echo a line from it and ask: “You don’t expect to keep this a secret, do you?”
