Fictionators™ Review Policy
The Fictionators™ began as a simple recommendation site in May of 2009 and has evolved into what we believe to be a well-respected website with a reputation for keeping it real. We’ve grown exponentially since our start and now average more than 11,000 unique visitors per month, have over 3,600 followers via Twitter and over 1,500 subscribers to our e-mail feed.
After a bunch of reader requests, we decided to add book reviews to our arsenal of features in the Spring of 2011. The effort has been met with much praise and success and we couldn’t be happier with the response.
We read a variety of books, focusing a majority of our time on novels published within the genre of young adult. We primarily stick to contemporary, paranormal/supernatural, urban fantasy, and horror titles with an emphasis in romance. We do accept adult titles as well, though YA lit is definitely our priority.
For a good idea on the kinds of books we enjoy, check out our individual Goodreads Shelves here:
Please note that we do not typically accept the following: children’s books, middle grade novels (unless requested by one of us), non-fiction/biographical, or self-published titles (unless prior discussion has occurred with author). We also do not read unpublished manuscripts to offer opinions.
What you should know before you ask us for a review:
The Fictionators™ has always been an all-positive review site, however, with the addition of books, that’s changed. If we read a fic and didn’t like it, we didn’t mention it.
If we agree to review your novel, we want to give our readers our most honest opinions. Therefore, we’ve adopted the following rating system:
– Fabulous – Couldn’t put it down!
– Loved It – We’re glad we read it, and we think you’ll l♥ve it, too!
– Liked It – It was good, but not our favorite. Maybe there were parts that we loved, but also parts that made us want to throw things.
– Meh – We might have liked parts or certain aspects of this book, but overall we didn’t like it very much.
– Thank You, But No. – We didn’t like it. Don’t Waste Your Time.
DNF (Did Not Finish) – We gave it a valiant effort, but for whatever reason, we just couldn’t keep reading. Maybe it picked up in the end (but we doubt it).
Note: Half-stars are awarded for books that fall somewhere in between two ratings.
We are currently accepting hard copy and eBook copies for review. In most cases, hard copies sent to us will be used in a giveaway when/if the review is posted. Please fill out the form below if you’re an interested author, agent, or publisher.
Alternatively, you can send us an email. Please include the following in your message:
- Your Name
- Novel Title
- Genre
- Summary
- Number of pages
- Any additional information you’d like us to know
All requests for review will be considered and responded to in a timely fashion. Please note that we reserve the right to decline a review at any time as we’re unable to make promises on what we will/will not read because of time constraints and other factors.
