nicnicd says: Ever read a prologue that just sucks you in, and won’t let you go? Yeah, that’s what happened to me with this fic. From the very beginning, I was wondering what was going on, and how long until I got to find out.

“The night was moonless, pitch-black. Hollow. There was no breeze tonight, no wind to animate the still trees around me. The rain fell silent and steady on my bare shoulders, and the only sound cutting through the darkness was the rhythmic beat of my feet against the pavement.
Breath escaped my throat in hitching puffs; I swallowed hard.

It wasn’t my furious pace that had me gasping for air, but rather my frantic attempt to escape my own reality. It had been working so well for me lately; why not keep running?

Bella leads a carefully regimented life; she’s hard-working and successful, outwardly put together and on the surface seems to be completely in control. That is a lie though. Inside, she runs both literally and figuratively from her demons, including a father who is so cold to her that you want to smack him, and a mother she hasn’t talked about. The inner pain and yearning that Bella portrays is tangible. The way her boss (a decidedly cold and cruel Charlie) speaks to her make MY heart hurt. And I’m dying to find out why he treats her the way he does.

The writing in this story is *AMAZING*! Putting a great spin on the Twi-Canon, Bella is the tortured one, while Edward is carefree. Where the books led to Bella’s death (lets be honest here folks!) DB is about Bella waking up, animating and truly coming alive, with the help of a well-rounded (read: non-pixie) Alice and an open Edward (Le Gasp!). The descriptions are wonderful, and the humor interlaced throughout the chapters is smart and intricate. You can’t help but want to choke a smarmy, overbearing and know-it-all Mike Newton, or smack an obnoxious Jessica and put some clothes on the hOOr. Or perhaps mack on the delicious Edward… le sigh!

So, as always… I implore you to GO. READ. NOW!! And leave the author some love; she’s a truly awesome gal!

Anywho… I heart ahealthyaddiction a lot, she was our resident dancer on the SS SexyTimes on the B&W thread over on Twilighted and when she posted her own fic I was excited to finally get into it!! Trust me when I say that I was intrigued from the Prologue and had to keep going because you know me, I just NEED to know what the hale is going on. Her Bella is a hard-working closed off woman who thinks she has something to prove to her less than stellar father, Charlie. While Edward is one of my favorite kinds… a computer nerd. When they get chosen to work on a big account together, things become… well, interesting. The UST is killer and she manages to kill me with one word: “Good.” *thud* When you go read it, you’ll know what I mean by that… so go… NOW.
