Official Description: Bella has just awoken from a coma that leaves her with no memory. Edward is the bitter patient across the hall whose promising future as a pianist is ruined by an irreversible hand injury. What happens when pity and fear collide? What do you do when life as you knew it is over?
Q&A with americnxidiot:
If you got more than one prompt – why did you choose the prompt you did?
I did get more than one prompt. The other two were so far out of my comfort zone as a writer at the time, that it wasn’t even a question. I picked this one almost right away. Was this prompt out of your comfort zone as a writer? How so?
Hah, well part of me wants to say see my answer above. But in a way, it was. The protagonist for my story was a woman with amnesia, essentially making her a blank slate. It was also my first time writing a big chunk all at once. So yes, I’d say it was out of my comfort zone a little. What was your favorite passage that you wrote in the fic?
Ah, probably the passage that takes place during Bella’s last night at the hospital. I don’t want to give away what happens, but I wasn’t even going to write it in. Pastiche Pen convinced me to include it, and I’m so glad I did.Did you know the person you were writing this for prior to receiving the prompt? If you did know them – did their likes and dislikes influence the plot choices you made? How so? If you did not know them did you just write the fic the way you wanted to or did you make any effort to get to know them?
Hehe, yes. I knew I was writing for AG. By the time I’d finally started working on my prompt, I had started to talk to her on g-chat. More than once we had sessions where we’d complain about how crunched for time we were in writing our exchange pieces. In fact in between when it was posted and when it was revealed, I had the pleasure of meeting AG in person at Comic-Con, so that was definitely amusing. How long did this take to write? Did you write it at the same time as your other fic(s) or did you put them on hold in order to finish this? Has this influenced your other fics at all?
All in all, it took me around two weeks to write my piece. This was more out of necessity than choice, given that I was a major procrastinator. I didn’t mean for it to happen, but I did put my WIP at the time temporarily on hold to finish it. I wouldn’t say it influenced my other fics. Then again my other fic was canon, so that would have been a little strange. Why did you choose the prompts you gave the author who wrote your fic? Were these ideas you had for yourself or just fics you wanted to see written?
I gave three really random prompts. One was an “outtake” from Twilight that I always loved to read in Midnight Sun type fics. The other two were random all-human ones. Honestly I have no idea how I came up with those. I would recommend using ideas that you wanted to write in a fic, but didn’t use for whatever reason.Would you do it again?
Probably not because of my restricted time during the school year, but I highly recommend it to anyone.

Kassiah says: I love everything that americnxidiot writes, so it was a no brainer for me to check out this little fic. Even before the Big Reveal, I felt like I knew that she was the author. It is beautifully written, with the developed characters and amazing dialogue that we have come to expect from her.
Memoria in Aeterna begins by taking us through the journey of someone with amnesia, waking up and describing what she knows: she’s wearing socks, she can describe her doctors and favorite nurse, she’s cognizant of the sounds around her. But she doesn’t know important stuff: her parents, herself, why she was there. The build-up of her thoughts and feelings is mysterious and full of suspense. When I read “You have a visitor” at the end of Part VI, I seriously wanted to scream. and throw my computer. That’s all I am giving away. *giggle*
This “novella” is just amazing. It is the perfect balance of angst and sweetness. You definitely will be missing out if you don’t read this
mozzer0906 says: This was one of two fics I read prior to the reveal and I felt very strongly that americnxidiot was the author simply because of how quickly I was drawn into the story and how impressed I was with the writing quality. One thing I have learned from reading all of her fics is that this woman can write anything and write it well – Memoria in Aeterna being no exception. She has a true gift for words and if you have not read anything by her I’m telling you, RIGHT NOW, to make sure you do. Doesn’t matter which fic you read, they are each unique and all are amazing, I truly believe that one day we will see great things from this young writer beyond the world of fanfiction.
Now, getting back to Memoria in Aeterna, I think americnxidiot really nailed the monotony that is being in a hospital so very well. The irritation of being woken at all hours, the boredom of listening to the machines hum in the background and the repetitive routine going around you that provides very little comfort and quite a bit of anxiety. Edward has had his future stolen from him and is angry, but Bella comes into his life and provides a glimmer of what a new future could be. Weaved into this beautiful fic is delicious heartfail and angst (this was written for AngstGoddess003, so of course this is in the fic) and wonderful banter and imagery. I can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed reading this and recommend it to everyone and anyone.
