Relative Wind by mac214

Official Description: The Mougar cometh! A steamy day at the drop zone turns into more than Bella bargains for when she meets her new roommate’s father. A tale of May-December relationships, father-daughter dynamics, and the happiest hooha in Philadelphia. Very citrusy. AH.

With the second round of The Fandom Gives Back coming up, this is a great story to rec. This AWESOME multi-chapter story was commissioned by Athena during the original FGB and I couldn’t be more appreciative because it quickly became a favorite of mine.

Several weeks ago I asked for DILFward fics on Twitter and I had a couple stories rec’d to me and chose Relative Wind first. I am SO GLAD I did. I devoured it on Monday night and have read the complete story three times…with a few chapter being read several more times than that.

Why has it become such a favorite fic? I honestly have no idea, but the descriptive way mac_214 writes just blows me away. I never feel like I’ve read something before after I devour another chapter of Relative Wind. It also helps that the sex in this story is unbelievably hot.

I’m going to also let you in on a secret…Edward is a Mougar. What’s a mougar? Cougar + Male = Mougar, lol.

So…the story, shall we?

Bella goes skydiving and gets hit on by her sexy skydiving instructor. There’s a moment that all of her verbal filter flies out the door while he’s helping her into her flight gear.

“How do you feel?” he asked.

“Like I should be on my knees calling you Master,” I said before I could stop myself. “Oh shit, sorry.”

The corners of Edward’s mouth twitched, but he didn’t say anything. I felt like the biggest idiot on the planet.

Some groping takes place while they’re falling out of the sky, followed by a quick romp in the back office that Bella assumes is a one time thing that Edward does a lot. She doesn’t expect to see him a week later when her new room mate moves in and finds out that Alice and Edward are related.

We get to see a little bit of her hilarious BFF relationship with Mike who is absence for most of the story.

“This is a huge step. You know what that means, right?” Mike’s wolfish grin overtook his face, and I worried. Last time he had looked like that, we ended up sky diving.

“Uh… celebratory milkshakes?”

“Bonding time,” he declared. He cleared his throat, stood up straight, and gestured grandly with his arms. “As Isabella Swan moves into the next phase of her life and celebrates becoming an adult, we will mark this day with a grand gesture. A gesture so big it will become permanently ingrained in her psyche. And I, Michael Newton, will share this moment with her by,” he stopped and turned me toward him, pointing behind him to a storefront along the boardwalk…

Another hilarious character is Esme, Bella’s older sister that gives every person she meets a lesson in a form of STD that you’ll just have to read about for yourself. All in all, this is a story I know I will be reading again and again. There is a big twist that I don’t want to spoil, but I bet once you read the first couple chapters you’ll figure out. Read it, you won’t be sorry!

Thank you so much Athena for commissioning this great story and mac_214 you’re so awesome for sharing your talent with us.

Before saying why I love this fic so much and why everyone who reads this will love it, I just have to thank those who bought Mac214 for the FGB auction. I’m hopelessly addicted to everything she writes (Ultio, Things That Go Bump in the Night, Love Park). Okay, fangirl moment over.

Reasons to read it:

Hot older Edward? Hook.

Hilarious non-canon characters? Line.

Crazy psychotic daughter? Sinker.

I’m not sure what I adore more about Mac214‘s story, the epic lemons or the humor she is able to put into situations that would normally be deemed too fucking crazy. It is fanfiction afterall, so I guess nothing can be considered out of line.

I know if my sister sat down and gave me lectures about genital warts, I would be mortified and I’m sure that would be the end of our relationship. Somehow Esme (yes, Esme) is able to not only properly inform Bella about the dangers of sex sans a condom, but Edward as well.

Edward peeked around the corner. “Is she gone?” He looked odd… pale and shaken.

I jumped out of my chair and rushed to him, patting his arms and chest, looking for something wrong with him. “Are you okay?”

“Esme gave me the genital warts lecture. She had photos.”

The premise is Alice first becomes Bella’s roommate, and Bella quickly finds out that Alice has a very attractive dad. Meet Edward. The sincerity that Edward brings to the relationship is refreshing and heartwarming. He knows that he will always love his daughter (regardless of her bat-shit crazy antics) but realizes when to stop self-sacrificing and be happy for himself. It’s a new take on an old concept. If Edward was self-sacrificing, he did it with his former wife and has learned how to grow and be happy again.

It’s a great love story with a ton of laughs, and if if the story isn’t quite enough, then read the outtakes. They’re just as good.

I found Relative Wind after reading Ultio, and I am negl, this is one of my favorite stories. I love that Edward is a mougar, I love that Bella doesn’t let anything stand in their way, and I love that they just are.

They are so sweet together, despite the obvious obstacles.

“What now? Should I give you my class ring?” He tickled me, and I squeaked, laughing loudly. “How about an ID bracelet?”

“What, were you born in the fifties?” I teased. “What did kids do in the eighties to proclaim their lurve?”

“It usually revolved around letting some girl beat me at Ms. Pacman and growing a rat tail for her.”

“I don’t know what the hell a rat tail is, but I’m out.”

“How about I just make love to my girlfriend instead? Will that work?” My body was on high alert again, but the exhaustion had instantly vanished.

“Why, Mr. Cullen, how very forward of you!”

“Well, Miss Swan, I’d like to take you upstairs.”

“Oh, would you? And what then?” I loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top of his shirt, letting my fingers graze the wiry hair of his chest.

“I’m shocked. A sweet woman like you digging the dirty talk?”

If you are looking for a great story that is real without weighing you down with a lot of emo, then I highly suggest the fuckhot fun that is Relative Wind.

Official Description: Seventeen year old Bella is back in Forks after a hasty departure years before. Her step-sister Alice has a mystery to solve; who is the father of little Heath, the green-eyed toddler coming back with Bella? AH

HeatherDawn says: So yeah, I couldn’t shut up about this fic and still find myself thinking about it at random times during the day.

I have to preface this by saying that when I go ficdiving I usually end up on Twilighted(s) recently updated link and stumble upon great stories. That’s how I found this little gem.

Lost and Found is by an author that I’m not all too familiar with other than a Rose and Emmett O/S she wrote for Nina’s I’m a Cocktease way back in February of last year called The Full Spa Treatment…loved it, still love it, wish she would have written more B/E *cough*DILFward*cough*! She has quite the collection of oneshots and full chapter pieces, but most of them are sadly not Bella and Edward. Which is why I wasn’t a faithful reader and only found this recently…since I’m pretty much a faithful shipper. Although she did write a fantastic piece for the DILFward contest called Rings and Porch Swings, which is another O/S that you should be checking out RTFN and it’s ALL E/B!

So, on to Lost and Found. Sorry I get sidetracked like 12 different ways from Sunday when I get to talking about stories that wow me. I saw the banner over on the recently updated fics on Twilighted and read the summary. Once I started reading I was hooked. I had to know WHO was the father of Bella’s son Heath.

When Bella was 14 or 15, she met a boy and fell head over heels in love for the perfect summer romance.

“Hey, wanna play? My team’s short one and we could use a player?” I looked up from my book and saw a god made into teenage flesh before me. He was tall, already six feet, and appeared to be fifteen, maybe sixteen. His hair was lighter on the ends from the sun, his eyes sparkling a striking shade of green above pouting red lips. I must have been staring as he flashed a huge smile. “Like what you see, beautiful?”

That boy also happened to be just as lucky, because he fell head over heels in love with her too.

“Oh god, how I love you, Izzy.” I laid down over her and kissed her gently. Izzy’s hand went to my hip and was tracing circles with her nails against me. It tickled and I squirmed causing my cock to rub against her. We both gasped and she looked up at me, a wicked grin spreading across her face.

“Make love to me, please, I need more.” Her legs came up around me again, this time with no clothes between us, our bodies perfectly aligned.

“Are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you.”

They make sweet, sweet love.

She didn’t answer me, only lifted her body against mine, pushing us together. I reached down between our bodies and helped press the head against her opening and then returned my arms around her, gently thrusting in. The heat overwhelmed me. She was so tight and warm, and I only had the head in. I pushed in another inch and felt resistance. Of course she was a virgin, I knew that, but this made it all the more real. There was no going back if I pushed through. Her hands clawed at my shoulders, her eyes were on mine, encouraging me. I thrust more quickly, feeling her barrier tear and my movement buried me to the hilt. Several tears slid down her cheek from the discomfort. I kissed them away and did my best to hold still, giving her time to adjust. When her hands relaxed on me I slowly slid out partway and did my best at thrusting slowly back into her. This was where I belonged. Her body was made for me.

That produces an adorable little boy.

Heath was finally getting used to me being near his mom and stopped hiding in her jacket. His face turned up towards mine, offering a dimpled smile. I took a good look at the toddler she held. He looked nothing like her except in hair color and face shape, a round cheeked heart structure. His lips were fuller, a deep blush across his cheeks and slight tan from growing up in Phoenix. However it was his eyes that captured my attention. Above a nose too straight and delicately boned to be from Charlie or Renee’s stock, held the green eyes that I knew only one family in town had. One of the Cullen boys had some explaining to do, fast.

So all is well and good, right? They can live happily ever after and raise their son together…big fat fucking WRONG!

“Is everything okay, Alice? You look a little upset.”

“I’m fine. I just did not expect such bright green eyes from your and your dad’s brown. I mean Emmett’s are gray so you’re mom’s must be.” She was grasping at straws. I knew what she was trying to get at.

“Renee’s are gray like my brother’s. Heathcliff has his father’s eyes as well as just about everything except his hair, that he got from me.” Here it comes. The million dollar question. The one question I won’t answer to anyone. I don’t want them to find him. I don’t want him to be tied to me and Heath out of obligation.
“Charlie said you met the sperm donor here in Forks. Do I know him?”

Definitely the million dollar question, isn’t it?!? And Alice thinks she has the answer, along with a few other people. Edward and Jasper were adopted by Carlisle and Esme. They are both obviously attractive, and have the same green eyes due to their shared mother.

Things get a little crazy with the family pairings in this fic, but I loved them. Alice is Bella’s step-sister who’s also dating her BFF Jake. Charlie married Alice’s mom Mary…but Bella just found out about it before she moved to live with her dad. She has a big brother Emmett, who’s obviously dating Edward and Jasper’s also adopted sister Rosalie.

I love the primary role Alice plays at the beginning of this fic when we’re still trying to figure out who the baby daddy is. It’s different than a lot of things I’ve read because Alice doesn’t actually know something!

She stopped breathing when she saw his face and I found myself jumping up and down in place. The lovebirds reunion and now he just has to remember her and then she’ll tell him about Heath and they’ll have a happily ever after while I tell Lauren and her second in command, Jessica to shove it. Eventually we’ll have a double wedding, her with Edward and me with Jake, and then we’ll go off to college together and live in a fabulous house. I can just see it. This is the best day ever!

“Hello. I’m Edward.”

What? That’s not how it’s supposed to go. He’s supposed to say “It’s you.” or something else like that.

She had something like 20 chapters posted when I found it and I spent the good part of my afternoon reading it only to get to like chapter 4 and find out that this may not be a Bella/Edward fic, but a Bella/Jasper fic.

*gasp*

I know, I know…if you are B/E all the way you might have stopped reading, but I couldn’t. To be completely honest, I didn’t really want to. Fiberkitty is such a fantastic writer that she drew me in even further once I figured out that it wasn’t what I was expecting. Even though it does say Bella/Jasper fic, I apparently missed that little tidbit when I started reading it, lol!

Go ahead, you can stone me now…I have a newly found soft spot for Bellsper and am looking forward to reading this story again!

However I will tell you that I think the Bellsper love ends with this story. The way Fiberkitty told this story had me rooting for Bella and Jasper. And that my dear friends…when someone can make me cheer for the opposing team, they must be a hell-of-a writer.

The Long Walk Home by bsmog

Official Description: Broken by his experiences in the Civil War, Edward marches with Jasper and Emmett to Gettysburg. A stolen night’s sleep leads him to the girl he thinks could save him, but the battle rages on, and his duty could destroy them both. AH. Canon pairings.

Heather Dawn says: I don’t typically read period piece fics, probably because they end up boring me like a history lesson. So when I was told to read this I was a bit skeptical, but am so glad I did. The story begins as the three boys, Jasper, Emmett and Edward are walking down a road, a road they’ve been walking for two years now. They left for the Civil War as young soldiers and have unfortunately seen more death than they ever imagined.

The boys are tired, and Jasper makes the following comment to Edward.

“I know it ain’t just your feet, Edward, it’s your heart too.”

None of the boys have a girl back home waiting for them, but Edward seems to be the only one ready to give up. Until, they stumble upon a barn on their way to yet another battle, and who does the barn happen to belong to, but Bella, Rose and Alice. The three pairs each meet in their own unique way and each of the boys is smitten with their woman from the start. All of them longing for the company of the opposite sex and the boys spend the morning enjoying a hot breakfast with the ladies.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and heartfail is inevitable. We find out the Bella was married, her husband had also signed his life away to the army and it’d been months since she’d heard from him.

The connection between Bella and Edward is heartbreakingly painful as realizations come to light and we find out that sometimes you have to let something go and accept that what you thought you had really isn’t as good as it could be.

I loved reading this story, and i loved reading through parts of it again as I tried to find the best parts to share. Unfortunately it’s so complex and the best part, the saddest part isn’t something I can share because you need to read it for yourself.

Kassiah says: One day I got a comment from some chick on my LJ page, thanking me for something I said. I was intrigued by this girl and looked her up. I noticed the summary of her story, and thought, “Historical Fiction? Ugh, if I wanted a history lesson, I would go to school.” lol I am just not into them.

Some time later, the girl who left me the comment became an invaluable contributor to TwificNews and quickly became my friend. I still didn’t read her story; the summary just didn’t appeal to me. I have lots of friends in the fic world and don’t rec stories based on that. Fast forward to the FtLoJ contest ,and I took a bite of bsmog’s writing and was instantly hooked on her amazing style. The promise of battlefield dry-humping later in TLWH mystified me, and I can honestly say that though I went into this fic rather stubbornly and quite begrudgingly, it is one of the most well-written and well-developed stories that I have ever read.

I love how bsmog has woven in richly-detailed characterization and imagery; some of the scenes are almost like you are right there.  I also really love how she provides enough historical information to tell the reader what she (or he) needs to know without overwhelming or bogging down with mundane (to me) details.

I giggled as I collected myself and appraised the man on the ground at my feet. The first company we’ve had in months, and my clumsy nature takes over. I could hear Alice and Rosalie in my head, “Leave it to Bella to knock a man off his feet before he ever laid eyes on her,” they would giggle.

His face was turned away from me, and I took a moment to take him in. He had a shock of tawny red hair the color of a shiny penny. His coat of dirty gray wool – that had been the scratchy fabric I felt as we collided – was stretched across broad shoulders that gave way to a lean frame. His clothes were so threadbare I could see his muscles flexing as he tried to gather himself up. He cursed as he turned.

““My goodness sir,” I admonished. “Such language! I should expect better manners from the gentleman that provided us with such a lovely serenade last night.” I gasped as the words flew from my mouth. When had I become so brazen? That was certainly no way to speak to a stranger! And yet I was shocked to find myself laughing. Laughing! When had I last laughed that way?

We find out some things with Edward and Bella that send me straight to emoville, but I think that will pull most of you angstphiles in.  The multiple POVs will lure you in as well.  Jalice fans will find their fill in The Long Walk Home as well.  Oh, and I guess I don’t hate Jacob either.

So whether you are looking for an historical fic or you just want a well-written amazing story, I think you should check out The Long Walk Home
