Hello Ladies :) I’ve come to share one of my new favorites that I caught up reading in about a day!!

The fic is called Men Without Eyes by danieller123, the one and only who brought us the heartbreaking fic called Under the Apple Tree. Again she brings us characters that you feel and care for instantly. The story begins with Edward who seems to have a close connection to his cat, Albert, and constantly bickers with his brother, Emmett. Emmett and Edward live together and receive a pie one day from the brown-haired, doe-eyed, single mother Bella, a beauty who lives across the street from them.

The story is told in EPOV so far, and I kind of like it that way, and is he snarky as ever?!

A little bit smart-assed. Well, at least she has that.
My staring must be making her nervous. Her staring is making me pissy. Even more so.
“Never see a crippled before, Bella?”
Like everyone else, she looks away. To the pie. Her head shakes. “I’m sorry.”
“I think we should try some of this pie. Looks pretty damn tasty.” Emmett makes another face and then goes around Bella, relieving her hands of the dessert.
“It’s just after seven in the morning, Emmett. You are such a child.”
He pays me no mind, per usual, and searches for plates.

He’s very short with everyone because as you read on, you find out that Edward happens to have lost the use of his legs. Now, as I have read many different fics–I’ve read the slash, slash that doesn’t involve the regular six canon couples, I’ve read AxJ, EmxR, etc. but they always pretty much have the same in common: normalcy.

I know that “normal” isn’t totally PC, I get it–but the fics that always intrigue me never truly have anything physically wrong with the characters. I’m currently reading one that has Bella blind, but other than trauma, abuse, drugs, etc. fics that I find have characters who are “normal”. But the loss of one’s legs makes you think and as you read on, you sympathize with Edward especially when you read how easily his ability to walk was taken away from him.

He’s a brilliant architect and he’s very arrogant but makes sure he has everyone stay a good 10 feet away from his personal space because being angry is how he’s comfortable dealing with his loss.

As the story moves along, which currently is at 9 chapters, Edward and Bella have more interaction with each other and he also befriends Bella’s daughter. You find out that Bella’s husband has gone missing and hasn’t returned but she values her marriage and believes he will make his return–unfortunately Edward doesn’t feel the same way.

Edward has hardships that he deals with like Emmett constantly hitting on Edward’s nurse, whom he likes, and talking crudely to Bella practically every day. Though Edward’s able to vent to fellow wheelchair friend, Jasper, who’s got the hots for Alice, a tennis instructor and Bella’s BFF. Now I know some like to read the fics for sexy times and who doesn’t love them, right?! Exactly. Well the UST in the first couple of chapters is most def. there and you think, does it still work?! Ahh, that would be a ‘yes’ and it’s most definitely relieved in a certain chapter….

Her palms go straight to my shoulders, steadying herself from my movement. I kiss in between her legs like I would kiss her mouth. It’s sweet and divine and I miss this more than I knew. Pussy. Sweet fucking pussy. All over my mouth. Her nails claw into my shirt and I give a little more, lapping at her skin with more urgency and expertise.
I only wish I could see her face. I bet there is a serious show going on there.

Yes, that’s just a little taste of what kind of relief that goes on in this fic, but all in all, I see great potential for MWE. Edward explains how he lost the use of his legs and it makes you think of all the things that seem so hard for someone like him as opposed to someone able bodied. We take for granted walking or grabbing a gallon of milk out of the fridge, or simply getting up to answer the door, hopping in your car to the grocery store. You understand Edward’s struggle but you also start to see his progression from the beginning to where the fic current stands.
