There are a variety of online stories out there; some are funny and give us a good laugh, some are smutty and… (Yeah, you get the picture). However, some stories are about situations in life that we can or have related to. These stories have topics that hit close home and, in my opinion, it is important that they be discussed in literature.

Anything But Conventional by kyla713 is one of those stories.

This story is about two teenagers that become best friends. Edward Cullen is an army brat, whose desire is to get out of Forks. Bella Swan moves from Phoenix to Forks, lives with her dad, Charlie, and is head over heels in love with her best friend–said army brat.

She doesn’t want to risk her friendship by declaring her love, but their friends have other plans. Alice and the others trap them into a date at the movies on a Friday night. Edward and Bella decide to go along with it and the night turns out to be one of the best they’ve had. As their time together comes to an end, Edward shares his secret passion with Bella, but also shares a kiss.

“Did I find Edward attractive? I might have been his best friend, but hell, I was still a member of the female populace.”

The story starts with conventional teenage anecdotes, but they turn out to be anything but. Kyla713 does an amazing job with the narrative. It reminds me of the song “Summer Nights” from the Grease soundtrack. The beginning might give you the idea that this story will about this classical teenage drama, but as I said before; remember the title!

Their relationship progresses from there. Now that they’ve crossed the line of friendship, certain events bring them together. But even when they are a couple, they have to deal with those issues that I was talking about at the introduction of this review. I don’t what to elaborate because I don’t want to spoil the story.

Between nicknames–firecracker–and bendy straws, an ex-boyfriend and secrets, pregnancy and parent talks, pills and first times, dog tags and rings, birthdays and Christmas, Chinese food and fortune cookies, kyla713 transports us to her amazing vision. This is a story about growth, how two friends that become lovers help each other when life becomes too difficult, when decisions are made, when parents make mistakes, and how young love can survive the distance, even if distance means one of them is in boot camp.

Kyla713‘s style is unique; she is the mistress of the drama genre. Her prose is intense and beautiful, descriptive and rich. She has an understanding of her characters and within each chapter, we see growth and development of this substantial tale. She gets us hooked with those characters that jump from the page (or in this case, the screen).

She will make you smile and rage, feel sympathy and sadness. It is a story that has it all, even the most beautiful ending ever written in this fandom. Beware, have a Kleenex box next to you, it’ll bring you to tears (not sad ones though), but it’ll also bring you with it another amazing story–Don’t Ever Forget, part two of kyla713‘s compelling tale.

I sighed heavily and shook my head. “I can’t just forget it, Edward. Whether it’s for twelve weeks or twelve years, you won’t be here…”

I am sitting on a chair, in the midst of hurricane Alex, typing on my BlackBerry, and telling you… this story is a winner, a gem in the middle of gray rocks. Go read it now. You’ll know what I am talking about.

It’s no secret that I’m in love with, kyla713, and this story was how my crush began. Anything But Conventional has everything you could want in a story. Romance, sweetness, jealousward (who doesn’t love that?), and some seriously hot lemons.

Their first time was beautifully described and left me desperate for more…

As I ran my fingertips through his hair and down his neck, his movements continued to be slow and gentle and I finally let out my first moan of pleasure. Something inside of me was changing. A tension was building I had never felt before. I closed my eyes and focused on it as it sat there deep inside of me, wanting to break free. The sound of my moan must have been a sign to him that the pain had subsided as Edward’s hands were now moving down my body. Gentle fingertips danced across my ribs, the sides of my breasts, down my waist and hips. He moved his palm down my leg and to the back of my knee. He gently grabbed my leg and hitched it over his hip. I let out a gasp, and Edward’s eyes met mine. There were no words spoken as we locked gazes, his green eyes seeming to look right through me. Each movement now brought with it a new wave of pleasure, the tension building and causing my head to spin in elation. I arched my back and tilted my head with a soft moan, as his lips moved over my throat. God, I was breathless as I felt the sweetest ripple of ecstasy begin to rush through me. His thrusts began to intensify and our breathing filled the room. My hips instinctively met his, pressing him deeper against that spot inside of me that felt so damn good. I didn’t want it to ever stop and I let out a deep guttural moan.

Then there’s the part that really hits home for me, and one of the reasons I’m so crazy about this Edward and Bella…

Her voice was barely audible and I knew I should let her sleep; but then I would lose my nerve. “Baby, we need to talk.”

Her breathing stilled even in her half-awake state and she tilted her head up to look at me.

“What’s wrong?” she asked with fear in her eyes, her arm tightening around me. “I’m sorry about earlier, Edward. It was stupid, I just…”

“Shh,” I hushed her by kissing her gently and paused briefly, keeping my eyes closed as I responded. “Bella, I’m joining the Army.”

After you’ve clicked that link at the top, I know you’ll be wanting more. So make sure you check out the sequel, Don’t Ever Forget. Here’s a little taste…

“Damn, you feel so good,” I whispered huskily as I closed my eyes, losing myself in the feeling of her surrounding me again, the sounds of her breaths coming in short bursts with each of my movements inside her.

“Edward. Please… faster,” she gasped, rolling her hips against my guided movements to press me deeper and causing my eyes to roll back. I began thrusting up against her and her head fell back with a groan, then shooting up again to gaze down at me with a wanton look in her eyes. “Don’t be gentle. I need you too much.”

*sputters* Need I say more?
