Why this fic pwns Pachuu: First I like it because the story itself, is very good. Although it is one of many stories about Twilight, something in this that attracted me. It’s a different vampward we are used to.
Obviously it is also because I keep everything the author writes.
Why this fic pwns ForgottenDaughter: Bottom line, one of the most enthralling stories I’ve read in a long time. Just read it, it’s amazing. Beyond that, timely and frequent updates and attentive reader review responses. I’m completely fangirling over this fic.
Why this fic pwns samrosey: Dusk pwns me because while it’s a love story, it’s a love story that we don’t always see in fic. It’s clear from the beginning it won’t exactly turn out well for these two. But that’s in the end… and what happens in the end for all of us? Exactly… So this story is a love story about how Edward finds Bella and falls for her anyway. The writing is solid, it flows so well between the present where Edward talks about their life together back to the past where a younger Edward and Bella are falling in love.
Bella has a secret… it’s not too ambiguous but there’s a little forbidden love passing through the lines of this story because of what’s happening with Bella. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking.
Why this fic pwns IcarusToSun: It’s about a nearly ordained catholic priest Edward trying to bring redemption to a street hooker Bella. Quite a play on the “saint-sinner” concept! The story opens with amazing promise and 18 chapters in, it delivers on that promise with every update. The flawless writing is an added bonus. It’s impossible not loving it. Give it a try!
Why this fic pwns Not Write Here: Feral Blood is incredibly hot and romantic. It is a rather interesting mating story. Along with the intense and hot mating, Carlisle is both loving and devoted to his “cagna”, as Bella is eventually called! It begins somewhat closer to their canon-personalities, but then it becomes this awesome and dramatic story where they have to deal with being the alphas of their coven as well as their own “heat”. They are so loyal and dedicated to each other and the incredible mating twist is just breath-taking!
Why this fic pwns astacullen: I just love it, it is sweet, funny, angsty, fluffy, romantic, you name it, it has it all. It even has some typos, but you forget all about them, when you get lost in the story.
It is a must! GO and READ now!
Why this fic pwns Lisaluna: Why I like this story is because it is a story within a story. Bella had left Seattle behind along with Edward. In the beginning we know enough that Bella and Edward had an affair while he was engaged and that affair ended horribly as Edward married the woman he was engaged to. As the chapter unfold it is discovered that the past was not all it appeared to be and now neither is the present as a love triangle emerges between Edward, Bella, and a perfectly flawed Riley. There is love, regret, angst, romance and UST. This story has it all!!!
Why this fic pwns plumcrazyyy: Why does Slaves to the Moon Pwn me? For starters, the title of the fic itself sounds like it should be a song, poem, at least used in a quote somewhere. Second reason Slaves to the Moon Pwns me, it’s a Skeezon fic. If you’ve read a Skeezon fic then you know what I am talking about, if not well you are missing out. Skeezon writes her stories with excellent detail, not over the top, emotions that hug you and tug at your heart, or even makes you laugh out loud. I love a Skeezon story because she gets to the point, to the heart of the story. You know her characters inside and out by time you are finished her stories, but you don’t have to read 800 thousands words to get to it.
Slaves to the Moon starts dark you can feel the angst radiating off this girl from line one. However you can picture exactly what is going on with the character and you want to know why:
“A dark-haired girl sat on the edge of consciousness, dangling her toes into nothing. A tattered diary lay open on her lap while her charcoal stained fingers clutched at the pencil hovered above the page. Tendrils of smoke swirled around her and she wished that she didn’t love the smell of it.”
Then there is our Edward. What “ward” will he be? You will have to figure that out on your own:
“Edward Cullen was a complicated guy. He was an intellectual conundrum beneath his tough as nails, decorated veneer. He’d studied at the best schools; he’d won academic awards and numerous scholarships. When it had come time to shine like a star, to cash in all the chips he’d won, he threw it all away for the love of a girl.”
This is not your run of the mill fan fiction that has emo dark troubled up Bella, and an equally messed up Edward that needs the other to survive, to live every day life. No, each character has their own baggage, true but in a another time they knew each other some how. Bella will rely on Edwards to tell her how they were connected in the past. Edward will rely on the “new” Bella to make him understand why she became who she is. The pair of them are complete different people in the present. If they were ever meant to be for one another they will need to know who they have become. Bella will have to face obstacles of letting a new person near her life. Edward will have to change the way he thought he knew Bella.
“They were two souls, snared by circumstance and slaves to the moon. Though they did not feel like strangers.”
Skeezon will provide you will a lot of details in each chapter. You will get a lot of answers rather quickly, but you will also come up with new questions and theories. Especially when she ends a chapter like this
“”I thought you were dead,” he whispered.”
Nice little cliffy there. That little line will keep you reading, wondering, and wanting more. Stat!
Even with these characters sordid pasts you will want to wrap them up and rock them into happy.
You will also meet some familiar characters, that are way different then what we are use to,100 % believable and different. Different is good. A few new characters may be thrown in to make the story that more interesting and mysterious, oh and surprise the kickers off of ya!
So my suggestion, check out Slaves to the Moon. You will not be disappointed, bored, or distracted.
“She closed her eyes and imagined running her fingernails along his scalp, through that short bit of hair. She knew it would feel like the soft fuzz of a velvet toy against her fingers. She pictured herself tracing every permanent line of ink on his skin, memorizing the curve of each design and the meaning behind it. She envisioned flattening her tongue and sliding it over the scratching scruff of his jaw, eventually biting down for a better taste. Even more curious, is that she imagined herself wrapped in his arms exhibiting no sexual connotations, while he whispered joyful secrets of her past against her skin”
ps. I think I want to call this Edward “Memoryward”
Why this fic pwns ForgottenDaughter: It is so sweet and organic, it’s unreal. Seth/Bella fic usually eek me out, with the little brother/jailbait factor, but this one circumvents that in a very natural way. It’s believable, and you love Seth for it. It also brings up the idea of imprinting on someone who is in someway unavailable to you in a new light. The scene with Quil and Claire is sweet, and you really get a better feel for what imprinting is like for the boys that do. The whole thing is sweet and beautifully written.
Why this fic pwns Anna: I read most of the story waiting for Edward to show up again after Bella leaves. But I didn’t even know if I WANTED Edward to show up yet. TBH, as a reader of Twilight Bella/Edward fanfiction, I’ve been conditioned to think that stories revolve around these two characters and that they’re destined to be together. I’ve been conditioned to view each angsty chapter as a precursor to some big revelation that these two characters have about each other (that they truly do love each other and that they can’t wait another second to be together). I’ve been conditioned to love Edward not for any specific reason besides the fact that he is Edward. I actually feel BAD or UNCOMFORTABLE sometimes when I happen to not really see anything appealing in an Edward.
By the end of chapter 5, I felt relief. Relief that Edward has not shown up again and that this story seems to be different from the ones I’m used to reading.
It’s not another “Bella runs away with a broken heart full of angst and Edward, who doesn’t think he loves her at first, realizes his mistake and all of sudden just KNOWS that he loves her and runs to apologize and plead for her to take him back.” Like the author said, this story is more than just Bella and Edward, and I love it.
I also love the supporting characters: Alec, Renee, Charlie, Esme and the rest of the family. Renee and Charlie are so sweet together.
In the case of Alec, oomph with the description. “Hair in disarray, broad shoulders…” It doesn’t seem like Ms.LoC is going to write him as “the guy who Bella sleeps with to forget Edward and when Edward sees, he becomes consumed with jealousy”. She gave him depth, and I really enjoy reading about him so far.
This story is beautfully written and though it is VERY angsty, I am compelled to read on… to read what happens next. This is what makes a ‘good’ writer in my opinion. I couldn’t flounce this story even if I did want to! (which I don’t)
Pure and simple: I love it so far.
It doesn’t matter if it’s already been rec’d by us or not; all we ask is that you do not submit stories that are currently in a contest or up for an award. That’s it
