Chapter 4 of ABC Countdown by Aylah50

A few hours later, after the children had followed Alice’s class outside, books in hand, Edward walked into my classroom. I had to fight the urge to ogle his incredible good looks as he strode in wearing black slacks, a white T shirt and a yellow short-sleeved button down over it. That man could pull off any color!

He smiled as he came to stand next to my chair, leaning on my desk as he took a swig of the orange juice he’d brought in. He tapped the rim of the bottle against his lower lip as he studied the collage on my computer screen. I shifted uncomfortably in my chair as he pursed his sensual open lips around the bottle to take another drink.

I would kill to be that bottle of orange juice!

He suggested moving a few photos around but other than that the collage was pretty much complete. I was proud of how many books our students had read together, and I knew my class had learned a lot from his.

“The kids should be really proud of themselves,” I said as I emailed the collage as an attachment to Mrs. Cope for printing on the office machine. “They worked really hard this year.”

But Edward wasn’t listening. Instead he was staring at the board where it said what day of the Countdown it was.

“It’s ‘O’ Day, huh?” he asked me.

“Oh! Yeah, it is. The kids are outside, you know for ‘One Subject Outside Day.’ Alice is with them-”

I paused as he quickly looked behind him to see the hallway empty through my classroom windows, then leaned in and placed his lips against my ear.

“And what’s on your countdown for ‘O’ Day?” his whisper was hot against my skin and I shivered, pretty certain that I’d lost all ability to speak.

“It wouldn’t really be ‘O’ day unless you had an orgasm, would it? Several of them.”

Oh my God.

Edward pulled back to smile sinfully at me and I bit my lip. He hissed sharply at the sight.

Suddenly the sound of children chattering filled the hallway and I knew my class was fast approaching.

“My house. After school,” he said quickly before rushing out of my room.

Chapter 10 of Absolution by Miss Baby

“Who is this Edward guy anyway?” Ben asked, “and what’s so special about him that he’s got the whole eleventh floor in an uproar?”

Angela elbowed him in the gut, hissing at him to be quiet, but I waved her away. I figured that since Ben was already up to his elbows in my personal shit, he might as well be clued in on all the action.

“Edward Cullen used to be my soul mate,” I started. “Our mothers were close friends for as long as I can remember and I think they must have cast some freaky love spell on us or something when we were little because I can’t remember a time in my childhood when we weren’t together. You know…as boyfriend and girlfriend.”

“That’s sweet,” Ben smiled before he turned serious again, “but I take it that young love didn’t last?”

I snorted. “You can say that again.”

Chapter 18 of After All by Scorp112

Edward turned toward me and with a quiet, “Shhh, baby.” He gathered me up and placed me on his lap. His arms wrapped around me, my head dropped onto his shoulder and I cried.

It took me a few minutes to realize he was crying with me. That alone was enough to slow my sobs.

I moved my hands up so I could wipe the tears from his face, but he wouldn’t look at me. His head was bowed, his shoulders shaking from the force of his crying. I hadn’t seen a reaction like this out of him before; Edward ran pretty mellow most of the time. I was the moody one, while Edward was Mr. Laid-Back-Take-It-As-It-Comes. To see him come undone so completely frightened me.

Chapter 18 of An Angry Man by katinki

“How did she die?” Her voice was as peaceful as the summer breeze. There was no accusation, no judgment; it was just… a question.

“Car accident,” I managed, gulping for air. Every breath I took dragged across my tongue, refusing to fill my chest. I could taste the bitterness of rising bile, its heat searing my throat as the memories crowded my mind. Grimacing, fighting to maintain coherency and grounding myself to fight the threat of remembrance, I stared at a strand of ivy wending its way along Bella’s porch rails, outlining and following every curl and every trail of its vines.

“You were in the car?”

Chapter 7 of An Unexpected Lady by JosieSwan

His mind was a web, spiraling out in infinite directions. In many ways, his mind was like a tree—every person he touched was a separate branch, and every thought they had ever had was a new leaf. He had catalogued and acknowledged every thought he had seen in everyone’s mind, keeping each history perfectly preserved within him. Now, since his gift had somehow been transferred to me, all the information and memories he had stored in his mind had somehow been given to me.

I felt as if I had just violated every single person that had ever touched Aro. It was like I couldn’t stop the influx of thoughts. I was lucky that Aro was so preoccupied with trying to read my thoughts, staring at our jointed hands, that he failed to notice the look of surprise that I could not keep from my face. The rush of instantaneous information forced the breath from my lungs, and I swallowed the rush of venom from my mouth. From Aro’s memories, these reactions happened every time he used his gift.

What disturbed me most was the knowledge that he could not control the use of this gift. I recalled Edward speaking of his ability to hear thoughts, and though he told me he could not silence the thoughts of others, he was able to sort of push them to the back of his consciousness. Aro was not as fortunate. Any physical contact resulted in a complete reading of the person. In all the millennia he had been a vampire, he had only learned how to focus on the recent past instead of a full history of those he had previously read; even if he had ever had the inclination to block his talent, he could not do so.

He finally let my hand go, and I was all too aware of his frustration. It was no accident that his wife was a mental shield, but she could lower her shield if she so chose, and he had read her mind. That I would not automatically allow him access to my memories shocked him. He had luckily decided that I was also a shield, but being young, had not learned how to control it yet.

Chapter 18 of Angel Eyes by RaeCullen

I sighed contentedly, slipping my hand underneath Edward’s t-shirt and resting my hand flat against the warmth of his chest. He continued to run lazy circles with the tips of his fingers as he rested his chin against the top of my head, his breath making my hair flutter softly as he exhaled.

After several moments, his breathing became even, his fingers slowing their circuit across my skin and I began to wonder if he had fallen asleep.

“Bella?” he whispered softly, shifting our bodies closer together as he wrapped his arm tightly around me.

“Hmm?” I mumbled, slowly beginning to trail my fingers along his chest, enjoying the feeling of his skin, rough and soft, against my finger-tips.

“I uh… I had something to tell you…” he whispered, his voice surprisingly nervous.

Chapter 3 of Believable Lies & Lost Truths by bnjwl

We both dressed in our suits and ran for the pool. It felt so good to be in the warm water with Edward holding me like his life depended on it. He enjoyed running his hand up and down from my tailbone all the way up to the hairline at the back of my head.

After a few passes, he added a small swirl with his finger tips and pulled me close so his mouth was right beside my ear. I turned my face to his ear and gave him a small kiss.

I know in the movies they focus in on the couple, and it seems like all the activity around them just fades away- it’s a real neat cinematography trick- but I swear at that moment an atom bomb could have gone off, and I would not have known it. All I could think about was his hands on my back and his breath on my ear. He moved his mouth in further and began pressing small kisses from my ear, down my neck and to the hollow of my collar bone. He began to murmur something, but for the life of me I couldn’t make my mind understand what he was saying. I just listened to the tone of his husky voice and enjoyed the fact that we were together.

He was showing me something he has never shown anyone else. That alone made this the most special act in the world. We were giving ourselves to each other-in a way we had not shared with anyone else in the world. As the weight of this fact hit me, a small tear escaped my eye.

Edward chose that moment to look into my eyes and his serene face changed. I gave him a small shrug and a smile. That must have been enough for him because his face relaxed again, and he kissed my neck once more.

He made his way back up to my ear and whispered, “Do you want to get out of here?”

Chapter 2 of California Dreamings by javamomma0921

Suddenly, a branch snapped too close to me, and my heart was beating in my throat. My eyes flew open, and I saw Riley’s dark eyes glowing only a few feet away from me.

“You shouldn’t be out here all on your lonesome, new girl,” he said slowly, walking closer to me.

He was strangely seductive as he approached me, his eyes locked with mine.

“I have a name, you know,” I said hoarsely.

“I know,” he replied. “You’re Bella. Everyone knows your name on your first day.”

“They forget later?” I asked tentatively.

He sneered and shrugged his shoulders.

“If you let them,” he said, his voice cryptic and full of unsaid thoughts.

“I know your name,” I said. “You’re Riley.”

I was both intrigued and slightly unnerved by the catlike look he had pinned me with. I don’t know why I felt the need to prove that I knew his name, but it seemed important. He didn’t acknowledge me though; he just snorted harshly.

“What makes you think I was talking about me?” he asked, closing the distance between us until I could feel the heat from his skin rolling off him.

I breathed in deeply, inhaling the strong masculine scent of him as I did. It was a mix of sweat, dust, and apples and it really turned me on.

“I don’t—I guess,” I mumbled, suddenly losing my brazen nerve and stuttering as I tried to answer him.

“Care to share?” he asked, reaching out for my cigarette.

I handed it to him with only slightly shaking fingers. When he took it, our fingers brushed and I instantly felt the heat coursing between our bodies. I don’t know if he felt it, but it rocked through me and hit me square in the gut. I immediately wanted to touch him again.

He put the cigarette to his lips and sucked deeply on it, the tip glowing orange in the fading light. I licked my lips as he handed it back to me, and I couldn’t wait to get it to my mouth to taste him on it. We shared the butt back and forth silently until there was nothing left. He took it from me, put one hand on the tree beside my face, and crushed the butt against the tree with his other hand, all but pinning me between his arms.

“That was hot—Bella,” he whispered as he leaned in close to my ear.

I breathed in deeply and licked my lips, hoping he might brush his mouth against mine. But other than the whisper of his nose brushing my cheek, he never touched me. He turned and started to walk away.

Chapter 16 of Camisado by Sophz456

“I have… plans for us tonight, and since we forgot to pack a certain bottle…”

“Oooooh. I see.” Forcing myself to push through the nausea, I slid my leg over both of his and straddled his lap, focusing my gaze on his. “And what makes you think I’ll be letting your plans become reality?”

He smiled slowly, then slipped both his hands below my skirt and cupped my ass, pulling me closer. I settled down against him, wrapping my arms around his neck, then sighed softly as he moved his lips to my ear and whispered, “I need to buy a disposable cell phone for you to use when you call them.”

I smirked, trying to stay in character, then rolled my hips against his and leaned back as he started kissing my neck. “Okay, then. And, uh… when, exactly, are you going to carry out your… plans?”

He grinned. “That depends. Once we get up to our room, how long do you think it’ll take you to get rid of these?” He gestured to my clothes.

“Hmmm…” I leaned in so my lips were beside his ear and whispered, “Twenty-five seconds.”

Chapter 9 of Can’t Stay Away by secamimom

Oh no, I don’t fucking think so, he replied in a harsh whisper, “I am grateful that you were there tonight to save her, but you have no right to go in there and see her. You need to stay the hell away from her and my wife. You need to make it seem like you never even existed.” I took a step away from him as I let his harsh words run through my mind. I knew I had no right to see Bella, but that didn’t stop my need to see that she was okay.

Chapter 58 of Carlie’s Eyes by prettykittyartist

I stopped in my tracks and smiled as I watched him turn around. His face was twisted in confusion until he looked up and saw me standing there.

He smiled widely and snapped his phone shut.

“Get your sweet ass over here and kiss me woman!” He said as he held his arms open for me.

I sprinted towards him as fast as I could and jumped into his arms. He caught me effortlessly and held me tightly.

“This is a nice surprise.” He whispered.

“I’m glad. I was afraid I’d missed you. I waited upstairs for almost a half hour.” I said sadly.

I took a peak behind him to see that Jane was still standing there.

“Didn’t Jane tell you I was here?” I asked him.

He frowned and shook his head no.

Chapter 4 of Chemical Reaction by ladauphine

“We weren’t doing anything wrong, Jay,” I said, exasperated that I felt like I had to explain myself.

He let out a long, deep breath. “Alice told me everything, Belly. I can’t get it out of my head, so you’ll have to excuse me if I’m a bit CONCERNED!”

I wasn’t used to Jasper raising his voice at me and it rattled my bones a bit. I was going to read Alice the riot act for telling Jasper everything, but she probably did it as pillow-talk not realizing she was telling him about his old camp friend. Alice never did have much of a filter on her.

“I swear,” I said, sipping my tea, “we came up here to work, that’s all.”

“We talked about that. He told me about your paper.”

I laughed a little – I’m sure Jasper thought I was crazy for self-imposing a research paper on myself in the middle of summer. But, he knew how driven I was and how much I liked challenges, even self-imposed ones.

“I’m glad you have a summer project, really I am. I’m just worried you’ll make him your summer project.” He turned to catch my gaze.

Don’t make a fool of yourself with the Professor, Swan. That’s what he was really saying.

“We okay?” I asked, tentatively.

“Yeah, if you don’t seduce him.”

I gulped hard before replying, “I’m as innocent as a lamb.”

“Yeah, and I’m the fucking Pope,” he declared.

Chapter 11 of Deceitful Taboos by LyricalKris

Jasper’s face looked like one of those LOLCats – you know, what is seen cannot be unseen. His eyes were wide and horrified.

It was one thing for cousins to admit to an attraction to each other. It was quite another to see it played out before him. It was…so gross.

“Dude!” he yelled, needing to just make this whole surreal scene stop.

Edward and Bella flew apart. They lay propped up on their elbows side by side on the bed, both breathless and flushed from their vigorous game of tonsil hockey. For a split second, Edward looked horrified. Then he remembered that he wasn’t making out with his cousin and he couldn’t help but smile again.

“Little busy here, Jazz,” he said dismissively, pulling Bella back to him. She made a startled noise but then smiled against his lips and kissed him readily. Normally she would be embarrassed by that type of display, but her reputation was probably shot as far as Jasper went.

If Jasper’s eyes bugged out any further, they might have mistaken him for a slug. “What is wrong with you two?! You need to cut this the fuck out, right now!” He looked like he was about to start stamping his foot at them.

Edward looked at Bella, a mischievous grin lighting his face. He quirked his eyebrow at her — a look that clearly said, wanna have some fun?

Chapter 11 of Don’t You Wanna Take a Ride with Me? by stephk0525

Just like Edward said, I heard the noise a split second before I saw the ball come hurling towards us. Giving way to his movement, I allowed him to lead and felt the bat make contact. The resulting thwack and jarring sensation signified a successful hit, and what a rush it was.

“Oh my God, we did it!” I cried out, beside myself with joy that we not only had gotten a hit, but that my face wasn’t pummeled in the process. Oh if Charlie could see me now…

“We did it Smalls! Awesome!” He shouted, the excitement palpable in both his voice and in the air. “Okay,” Edward said, returning back to teacher mode, “we need to regroup because there’s another one coming…NOW!”

CLICK!

WHOOSH!

CRACK!

Another hit. This time we settled back into position immediately getting prepared for it to fire again. I felt Edward encase the bat harder in his grip, his arms pulling me tighter against his rigid form. In a reflex action beyond my control, my body innately pressed and wiggled back into him, traitorous wench that she was.

CLICK!

Another pitch thundered toward us; my entire being lurched as we swung, a simultaneous “gahhhh” bellowed from us both as the ball was sent flying.

“Yeah, that’s it.” Edward murmured in my ear.

Chills ricocheted all over me, and like the glutton for punishment I was, I turned my face to him and smiled. “I’m feeling it Edward, I’m really feeling it.” I gushed; proud we were three for three.

No sooner than those words left my mouth, I really did feel it. Him. Swelling.

Oh. My. God.

There was no mistaking that other big stick that Edward carried, which was very firmly pressed into the small of my back.

“Uh, umm, Edward?” I gasped in total disbelief.

“Oh shit,” he growled.

CLICK!

WHOOSH!

THUD!

We toppled to the ground just as the pitch whizzed past our falling bodies. I landed in a heap on top of Edward, surprised that somehow in mid-spill he’d managed to maneuver us so he could cushion my fall.

If things were awkward before, they were even more so now. The bat we’d held had been chucked aside, but the bat in Edward’s pants was now firmly connected to my home plate. Talk about finding the sweet spot.

Chapter 28 of Falling for the First Time by Snow White Heart

The first night was the comedy show. Teddy and I showed up with matching “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” tee shirts, because hey—that show is the epitome of comedy. What better way to set the mood than picturing Charlie in his green-man costume, right?

Everyone crowded in to the auditorium and got ready for the presentation. Last year was an improv comedy group, and the year before that was a great standup comic.

“Hello, hello, hello,” a very rotund man said, ungracefully mounting the stage and grabbing the mic. He was at least four-hundred pounds while standing at five foot two, so maybe that was the actual comedy. Maybe we’d make him do physical things and just watch him jiggle like Homer’s fat after the treadmill stopped.

“I’m Johnny Cakes, and I’ll be your hypnotist tonight,” he said, sweat beading on his brow.

I immediately worried that this could be an Office Space scenario, where I’d never go to school again and instead I’d just go fishing.

Teddy looked at me and whispered, “Well, I certainly can’t volunteer, but you could.” He tickled me playfully, clearly wanting to see what I’d do under a hypnotist’s spell.

I shrugged, “I doubt I’m that susceptible to subconscious suggestions.”

“We’ll see,” Teddy taunted, and the show began.

“I’d first like to narrow down my audience. You see, some people are able to be hypnotized, and for others, it’s more difficult. Let me show you a few tricks to see how…malleable your minds are,” he said eerily. He made us do a few exercises, holding our hands out and pulling them apart, visualizing things. If we were able to pass all three tests, we were supposed to put our hands up.

Times like this, I wished for a less impossibly strong and fast boyfriend.

Teddy grabbed my arm and shot it into the air.

“You there,” the fat hypnotist said, pointing to me, “and you, and you, and you.” He picked a few other seniors, and we had to go up to the stage.

Teddy, if you weren’t dead already, I could kill you.

Chapter 26 of Fire Becomes Ice by Kelsismom

Bella hung up the phone and tried not to panic. From what she gathered from Billy’s side of the conversation, Sam already explained to him that his son would be guarding Bella the rest of the night in Forks. Billy hadn’t seemed too concerned about it, but when he gestured for Bella to take the phone, she had a sickening feeling of dread. In the briefest way possible, Sam explained that he was aware of Edward’s situation and that it was best for now for him to remain in wolf form.

That was it.

No explanation as to how it happened. No opportunity to ask any further questions as the dial tone played like a dirge in her ears.

She rushed to the window, but only saw the beginning of a drizzle coating the dirt surrounding the property. “I’m going to look for Jacob,” she told Billy absently, not listening to his reply as she stepped outside. Her eyes searched in the direction of the mouth of the forest nearby sweeping west toward the scattered older homes. That was when she heard a whine…like a dog that had been punished.

Her attention turned to the side of the house, and the huge familiar form of Jacob’s russet body came into view. Bella rushed toward him, helpless to aid him in this situation. The drops fell heavily as she braced her arms around his collar. “Oh no, Edward.”

Chapter 9 of First & Ten by Nolebucgrl

I rolled my eyes and let my head fall back against the seat again. “Bella’s a little gun shy; she got hurt by some prick in college so she has a hard time trusting. She’s working on it, I can see that, but she immediately thought I was going to dump her for Tanya when she heard about it from her co-workers.”

Jasper punched my arm again. “Would you stop that shit? Why do you keep hitting me?”

“Why’d she find out from her co-workers, you dumbass? You should have told her yourself.”

“Because I was trying to get out of having to do the stupid commercial at all. If I had, why tell her? Why upset her over nothing?”

Emmett snorted. “Because, man, they always find out somehow and then you’re in even deeper shit for not having told them. Women like to know every little thing. How do you not know this?”

“I don’t know. Tanya didn’t give a damn about what I was doing day in and day out. Neither did Lauren.”

“They were self-absorbed Hollywood types, GQ. You need to wise up to the ways of real women, fast. Your Bella sounds like a quality girl. If you want to keep her around, you’re going to have to be honest with her. Dating someone like you can’t be easy, particularly for someone who’s been hurt.” Emmett’s eyes narrowed. “Who hurt her anyway? Where do we find him?”

I grinned at Emmett’s immediate willingness to kick someone’s ass for Bella. He was already loyal to her and they hadn’t even met yet. “Some asshole named James that she went to college with. Cheated on her, repeatedly, all while making her think she was the one.”

“We need more than a first name,” Emmett said, his smile turning feral.

I chuckled. “I’ll see what I can do, though I don’t think she’s got any residual feelings for him. I think she’s shied away from dating because of it.”

“She has,” Jasper piped in. “Alice told me she’d set her up now and then and it was always a disaster because Bella wouldn’t let anybody in, she mostly gave them the silent treatment.” I really kind of loved that mental image, Bella ignoring some faceless guy who wasn’t good enough for her. “The fact that she’s opening up with you says quite a bit about how she feels.”

“Bella and Edward, sitting in a tree…”

“Shut up, Emmett.” There was no heat behind my words, I felt too good at the knowledge that Bella was letting me in. I wanted her to let me in mentally as well as physically and damn, I was hard as a rock at just that thought.

Chapter 3 of Giofógach by ltlerthqak

It was a little past nine that night when I suddenly caught the scent of caramel nearby. I spun quickly, scanning the crowd in front of the booth. Three seats from the end sat Edward, all warm smile and messy hair, with the water gun in his hand.

“What’s this?” I asked, smiling teasingly as I strolled over to him. “Come to try your luck at my little game?”

“More like I came to have my money stolen by a beautiful gypsy,” he replied with a heart-stopping smile. “So what’s the trick to this?” He raised the gun and aimed at the clown mouth in front of him, pursing his lips.

“No tricks – just aim and shoot,” I replied, stepping in front of him. “First person to get their clown hat to the top wins the round.” I placed both hands on the counter and leaned forward. He dropped his aim as he stared at me, his head tilting a little to the side.

“No tricks, huh?” he asked, one side of his mouth curling up into a lopsided smile. My eyes widened and I felt my pulse race as the scent of warm honey tickled my nose. “How do I know you’re telling me the truth?”

I bent over the counter further, pushing my elbows together slightly. Edward’s gaze dropped to my chest and I heard him inhale sharply before his eyes met mine once more. I leaned all the way into him, my cheek just barely touching his as my lips brushed against his ear.

“You can trust me, a stór,” I whispered, moving back until I could see him once more. Our eyes locked for a split second before I leaned in quickly and pressed my lips against his cheek. Using every ounce of willpower I had, I stepped back, meeting his gaze while I increased the distance between us.

“Are you okay?” Cullen whispered to me.

“Peachy. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“It’s not like you to be so distracted.”

“You presumptuous motherfucker. You eavesdrop on a single personal conversation between Maggie and me, and all of sudden, you’re my freaking biographer. I hope for all of our sakes you put more effort into your medical training than you put into taking an interest in your would-be conquests. “

“See, that’s where you’re wrong. I didn’t just eavesdrop–”

“Is this where you try to tell me it isn’t your fault Maggie has a big a mouth? Any person with a modicum of decency would have made his presence known.”

“That’s just it—you’ve been saying since the day I met you that I had no decency. Why should anything I do surprise you?”

“It doesn’t surprise me; it infuriates me.”

“And for the record, what I know about you goes well beyond what I overheard yesterday morning. After all, I did just spend the night with your sister.”

Chapter 6 of HARD to Get by myohhhmy

The entire weekend I was off kilter. Edward had affected me on some bizarre emotional level, and not even my faithful Jackrabbit could ease me. By the time I returned to school Monday morning, I prayed that he wasn’t there, but there was also a miniscule part of me that hoped to see him in all of his perfection, walking with his siblings toward the entrance to the school. This was all wrong. He shouldn’t be getting to me, I reasoned, and that’s when it hit me. It had been weeks. All this lack of sex was clouding my good, rational thinking. How did married people do it?

Maintaining my cool attitude, I sat with Mike, Jessica, Eric, and Angela at lunch. They were going on about a beach trip that weekend on some reservation, and I was too distracted to listen to the details. Meanwhile, I ate my lunch and kept my focus on Angela as she begged me to join them. It was hard to pay attention to her because even though I was trying not to look in the Cullens’ direction, I could feel his eyes on me. Damn him.

Chapter 12 of Hunted by faerie kitten

“Here, take these,” Ben the complicated Forks’ paramedic said, offering me something small and white.

I asked, “What are they? ‘Cause I don’t like Smarties.”

“Demerol.”

“Sick.”

“Pardon?”

“I think she means that they will make her sick,” Edward translated.

Thank goodness for almost-hungry, too-good-looking-for-their-own-good vampires. Translating from gibberish to English is an art, one that Edward was apparently a master of. Good, because I was too busy trying to chase the colours around the ceiling.

“So, I had an interesting visit today,” he said, grabbing one of my pillows and fluffing it up before he leaned to the side and rested against it.

“Oh, yeah?” I arched a brow at him. “The girl with the leather again?” I giggled.

“Unfortunately not. She was fun,” he said, wiggling his eyebrows and laughing with me.

“Come on then,” I insisted, nervously twisting my hands together.

Chapter 17 of I Wept Not by ArcadianMaggie

My feet flew across miles of white in Alaska’s interior, over frozen rivers and icy tundra. I ran through acres of taiga, the plentiful conifers coated with layers of snow and frost, the ground crunching underfoot as the spongy ground cover gave way beneath my weight. I drank from caribou and moose, wishing the grizzlies weren’t in hibernation, aching to feel teeth and claws assailing my skin.

Hours of daylight were few, and even those were more than I felt I deserved. I deserved the long hours of night, the bitter relentless cold. I took to climbing the craggy peaks of the Alaskan Range, heading to elevations that would trouble human lungs, reminding myself of my terrible otherness. I welcomed the unpredictable storms that would rage against the mountainside, the windblown snow blinding me in swirls of white. The sub zero temperatures chilled me to the core and I wondered what would happen if I stilled and let the snow accumulate over me. Would I become buried deeper and deeper as the years passed? Would I eventually turn to ice, the mountain a tomb encasing me for eternity?

“You like that bike?” he asked with a grin on his face.

“It’s beautiful, but I’m trying to figure out who’s it is. This is the first time I’ve seen it and I can’t imagine anybody I work with riding that. All of the male teachers we have aren’t really the motorcycle riding kind of guys.”

“So what kind of guy does it take to ride a motorcycle?’ he asked as he leaned down and gave me a kiss on the lips.

“Tough guys.”

Chapter 22 of Losing Control by StupidLeeches

I pull Lillah’s face to mine, kissing her slowly, trying to help her relax. I speak in between passes of my lips against hers, “It’s ok, baby. I’m here now. Relax, we’ll take care of everything.”

Lillah leans into my lips, moaning softly before speaking, “I know, Embry, it’s just-.”

“Shhh, it’ll be fine. I promise,” I pull her lips to mine, increasing the pressure of our kiss, needing to show her I’ll take care of her in all ways, even protecting her from her mother.

Lillah is hesitant, keeping her mouth closed and not moving her hands, which surprises me. She hasn’t reacted to my kisses like this in a while, not since our first few kisses. But as I hold her tight against me I can feel her start to relax. Her hands move from my back to my hair, tugging gently, causing me to moan against her lips. Lillah finally opens her mouth to me and I easily slide my tongue against hers as my hand against her ass squeezes gently.

Lillah sighs, melting against me. I move my hands to cup the outside of her thighs, helping her to remain standing. Of course, my long fingers wrap around the inside of her thighs, so I can easily feel the heat coming from her center.

I’m about to move my hands to slide under her dress when I hear a gasp that doesn’t come from Lillah.

“What the hell are you doing Lillah? Who is this man? Why are you two practically having sex in the living room?”

Chapter 13 of One February Friday by LyricalKris

But then Esme was chattering on, as she led the way into the house. “But where’s Bella, Edward? Didn’t she get you from the airport?”

Edward’s smile fell instantly and his shoulders slumped. “I….” He stopped and drew in a long breath of air. “Why don’t we sit down?” he suggested.

Now both Esme and Carlisle looked concerned but they just quietly acquiesced to his request and sat on the loveseat. Wondering briefly what the right move was, Jasper decided to stand behind the sofa where Edward sat. His posture was both supportive and protective. It was good – this need he felt to protect Edward. It was infinitely better than the fear that kept him skittish. In his mind, Jasper conjured a thousand different arguments to counter whatever Edward’s parents came up with.

In the end, though, Jasper’s defensiveness wasn’t necessary. Edward was surprisingly straight with his parents. He told them about the months of confusion about everything leading up to him leaving, and then the weeks of confusion after he met Jasper and Peter. Of course, he was vague on the exact nature of his association with Jasper and Peter, but the singer realized that he was gripping the back of the sofa so tightly at that point of the story that his knuckles were bone white.

Though they must have read between the lines, Carlisle and Esme only glanced at Jasper in surprise before they returned their rapt attention to Edward. They seemed concerned, but their faces were open; they didn’t seem angry at all.

Edward continued, talking about running into Bella at the airport and how they’d talked, briefly. For the first time in his conversation his head bowed when he said that he let her go – once and for all.

At the first sign of his distress, Esme was a blur of motion. Jasper tensed automatically, but she only sat beside her son, putting an arm around him. “That must have been hard for you.”

‘How am I going to deal with this?’ she wondered to herself.

She had no time to continue her ponderance when Jack ran into the room wearing his John Cena swimming trunks.

“Hey, Mom?” he asked, while grinning at her.

“Yeah, kiddo?”

“You can’t see me!” he yelled as he waved his hand in front of his face.

Bella rolled her eyes and silently cursed Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment.

“Nice. I think you need an Attitude Adjustment,” Bella called out before jumping off of the bed to chase him.

“Oh, come on!” I shouted to no one.

“Is this funny to you? Is my life funny to you?” I pulled the remaining oar over the boat and leaned heavily on the wood, gasping for breath, before turning my face skyward again.

“Is it too much to ask for a break? Just to cut me a little slack? Haven’t I been through enough?!” I had never really believed in God, I had no idea what I hoped to achieve by yelling at the sky, but as I did, a small sliver of sunshine filtered through the clouds and sparkled off the lake’s surface.

“Yeah, thanks,” I murmured. “Not sure what to do with that.”

“Our sons?” I whispered.

“No. I promise, they have not been given this kind of magic,” Carlisle vowed.

“But if they had it, they could do it,” Alice said.

“If they had it.”

“And is there anywhere else that they could get this kind of information?” I asked, praying that the answer was no.

“Most devils know how to do it,” Carlisle admitted.

Chapter 23 of Sins of the Father by bethaboo

“Are you alright?” he asked, his own breath coming in short pants.

It was the first thing either of us had spoken since leaving the house that had been more like a prison, and as much as I had hated that place, it was in there that Edward and I had managed to bridge the seemingly insurmountable gap between us. It was evidence of how weirdly paranoid and unhinged I’d become– that once we were free, I suddenly didn’t know if he would be the same Edward. Maybe once he wasn’t forced to be in the same room with me 24 hours a day, he wouldn’t want to be.

I knew I was being ridiculous, but all my old insecurities came rushing to the surface as I looked up through the darkness and saw Edward standing there, staring at me. Maybe he’d run off now, and I’d never see him again.

“I’m fine,” I told him. Fine seemed like a rather ridiculous choice of words, but it was all I could come up with—my brain felt fried with the superfluous emotions of the last forty-eight hours.

“Good.” It seemed that Edward himself had reverted to silence, and so I joined him. In any case, it was easier than figuring out what to say to each other.

After a minute, he reached out and to my surprise, found my hand again. “Are you ready?” he asked.

I took a deep breath and nodded. “Let’s go. But slower this time?”

“We need to find . . .”

“A phone,” I finished when he couldn’t seem to put his finger on what exactly it was that we needed to find.

“Yeah,” he agreed with a distant voice, but I could nearly hear the gears in his head, and I wasn’t sure at all that he did agree.

I loved feeling her raised skin, knowing that it was a permanent fixture of her body now.

She brought her hands back to touch my thighs, her head falling to the side. Having heard me ask a hundred times before, she answered immediately, “I got it for you.”

“When?” I asked, sinking to my knees as I continued brushing kisses along her back.

“A week after I left.”

I sat on my knees on the floor of my bedroom, clad only in a flowing sheer white nightgown that fell all the way to my feet. I had curled my hair and applied a simple blush and gloss. I looked…angelic.

I never hear Edward get home, so I just waited in anticipation for his arrival, knowing that any second he would find me. Bizzy got drenched at the thought.

Suddenly, he was in the doorway, looking at me with a sweet yet puzzled expression. “Hey beautiful,” he said, approaching me. “You look so innocent in that,” he said, smiling at my heavenly-sweet appearance.

“Thank you, Master,” I said, lifting my head and baring my naked throat to him. I held out a piece of studded leather. “I know how you like it when you put this on me,” I said, essentially starting the scene.

Yup, I went there. I was going to have Edward Dom today.

Chapter 3 of Subway Strangers by Miztrezboo

I’m on my feet. I’m watching him.

Staring really.

And I’m willing him to stop staring at the floor, stop staring at the microphone low in front of him where his gorgeous dark brown curls have fallen across his forehead, hiding his eyes from mine.

Not that I believe he could see me across the room from where he is.

But it’s relatively safe for my ogling and plus…

Now I’ve heard him sing.

I need to see his eyes, I need to feel more of a connection.

Just as I’m giving up on that idea, he raises his head.

“FEBRUARY STARS! FLOATING IN THE DARK!”

It’s like he’s singing just to me. The next three repetitions he sings, growls, roars, fucks me with his voice and those deep blue eyes are just on mine.

The moments between each syllable and chord become longer and longer as I can’t break my gaze with his. The wide grin on my face actually hurts I’m forcing these muscles into shapes they haven’t had to really make in a flirtatious way for such long time. I hope to god I’m not drooling because this. is. fucking. hot.

Chapter 3 of The Ballad of Love and Hate by Risbee

“Well, well, well. The big city girl has come back to Forks.”

I turned my head and looked towards the voice and all I could see was this gigantic man with dark hair, beautiful skin and the blackest eyes I had ever seen sitting in a chair in the corner. Well I assumed there was a chair under there somewhere. The way he had his legs and body positioned he looked like some sort of rubber man, it was kind of freaky actually. I wasn’t sure I liked it. He was massive, like giant sized and it took me a few seconds to realize who he was, until he smiled. After that there was absolutely no doubt.

“Oh my God, Jacob!” I ran over and when he stood up I gave him a huge hug. Well tried to anyway, I could barely get my arms around him he was so big.

“You’re huge!”

“That’s what she said.”

Oh my god, I’m surrounded by grown men with the mindset of prepubescent teenage boys. Of course I was laughing too so what did that say about me?

“Shut up. Seriously, when did this happen?” I gestured to his grown up appearance because the last time I saw him we were the same height and our voices were the same octave. I wasn’t about to remind him that people used to mistake him for a girl, but it was true, they did.

“Well, you see Bella. There comes a time when boys and girls start changing.”

“Knock off the biology lecture, I know all about puberty. I just can’t believe how much you’ve changed. You look incredible. How’s Leah? Did I hear you have a baby?”

Chapter 24 of The Diner by Jessypt

I leaned in buried my nose in her hair and breathed in. My body responded, much like it always did, when she was near and pressed up against me. As I grabbed her hips to shift her slightly so she couldn’t feel the evidence of my need, she huffed and pulled away from me.

“Are you ever going to touch me again, Edward?” she had asked in exasperation.

I looked over at her, surprised by her outburst and the look of confusion and… hurt, maybe, on her face.

“I uh… yes,” I stammered, caught off guard.

“Then why haven’t you even tried? I mean, is it because of James?” she asked, a hint of sadness in her eyes, before she looked away.

“Bella,” I said, reaching over and tugging on her chin, “this has nothing to do with James. I want to, trust me. I’ve never wanted you as badly as I do now, but I didn’t want to pressure you or make you feel like we have to do that yet.”

Her mouth opened and closed a few times before tears welled up in her eyes. “So, it’s not because James almost…”

“What!” I roared, and she jerked away from me. Seeing the fear in her eyes, I immediately pulled her into my lap. “Baby, this has never been about James. I don’t care what he did… well, I care, but not because of that. You are everything to me, Bella, and nothing that happened will ever change that. I want to be with you forever, and I’m waiting for you to give me some sign that you’re ready for more.

“I never want you to feel like you are being forced into this relationship or pushed to do something you don’t want to do. Too many people, me included, have forced decisions and actions on you, and I never want to do that to you again. So, you’re going to have to tell me what you want and when. I don’t want to guess or make assumptions.”

When I had finished, she stared at me with tears running down her face. I wrapped my arms tightly around her, running my fingers through her hair, and kissing the top of her head. I held her and whispered my love as she cried, allowing her to release all the fears and doubts she had been holding inside her.

When her tears had dried and her face was left streaked and splotchy, I shifted her so she was facing me. I stared into her glassy, bloodshot eyes, and pressed my lips against hers. I poured all the love and longing I had into it, hoping she would see how serious I was about everything I had said. I loved her more than my words could express, and I needed her to know that. I didn’t want her to doubt my love for her – ever.

When we were both out of breath, she pulled back and looked into my eyes. My heart started to pound and the breath left my body. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes dark and warm, and her hair was billowing messily around her face. She was absolutely beautiful, stunning… and mine.

Chapter 15 of The Disillusioned by PhoenixRIsing25

“Are you crazy? We’re already cutting it close, and there’s no way we’re going back to your truck now,” the little vampire – Alice – said, answering Bella’s request to go see her beloved vehicle with a terrified look on her face. “We need to get you two back to our house before anything else happens tonight.” She reached for the heat controls, turning it up so warm air blasted into the car, effectively ending the conversation.

“Jeez, Alice, you could just say ‘no’ or something equally simple,” Bella grumbled, and I squeezed her hand, pleased when the contact made her smile.

I noticed then that Bella wasn’t moving as she should; Alice had been carrying her when we left the hospital earlier, and I’d been too keyed up about making my way past the night nurses and actually getting the hell out of there that I hadn’t had an opportunity to say anything. Peering around the leather seat in front of me, I noticed that Bella’s right arm was immobilized by some kind of sling.

“What happened?” I whispered , looking her over as best I could, frantically inspecting her body for more damage. Bella did have a rather fresh cut on her forehead that had barely scabbed over and I was surprised I couldn’t smell the blood, nor did I have any urge to drink from her. I had thought that open wounds would trigger this desire, but perhaps I was mistaken.

Bella took a deep breath before answering my question. “The vampires who want to find us? Two of them attacked my truck earlier on my way home from the hospital,” Bella said quietly. “I’m okay, though. Alice found me and patched me up.” She gave me a reassuring smile and wove her fingers more securely through mine, linking us together tightly. The warmth in her touch calmed me instantly but I took a deep breath anyway. The car smelled oddly sweet, not unlike brown sugar or cookie dough…

“As long as you’re safe now, sweet girl.” Pushing myself between the driver’s and passenger’s seats in front, I turned my head and kissed Bella’s warm mouth. I wanted to say something else but I didn’t have any words to convey the magnitude of my concern, and the kiss said more than words ever would. Besides, Bella clearly had been well taken care of.

I owe Alice. Big time.

As soon as the thought crossed my mind, Alice looked back at me and grinned. “Aww! Thank you in advance,” she said sweetly, before turning her eyes back to the road.

He laughs and pulls me on top of him, and now I’m straddling him in just an old pair of boxer shorts and a tank top. I can feel him beneath me, all hard and poky, and I think I’d like nothing more than to you know…do it. I bite my bottom lip before grinding my lips into Edward’s.

“I…I think I’m ready, Edward,” I breathe out.

“Bella…” he warns, but it comes out more like a moan. “Are you sure?”

Instead of answering him with words, I move my hips over his again until we’re lined up perfectly. I brace my hands on his chest and keep shifting up and down, rubbing myself against him. If we weren’t wearing any clothes, we’d totally be doing it right now.

I stared, uncomprehending.

“The bank robbery and your attempted kidnapping made national news, Bella. The brass wanted to be able to close your case and tell everyone in the country who was planning a trip to Sin City that the partner was off the streets. When the body showed up with circumstantial evidence, the Chief of Detectives jumped at it.”

His explanation had ceased to matter after the words ‘national news.’ Numb, I sat down in the other empty chair.

Edward was kneeling in front of me in an instant, his fingers wrapping around my calves. “What’s wrong? I know it’s bullshit, but it’s politics and that’s why I’m doing everything I can.”

“It’s not that,” I whispered. A lump formed in my throat, but I bit back the sobs. I would not cry, not now.

Chapter 32 of The Life and Death of Edward Anthony Masen by javamomma0921

“Correspondence school again?” I asked when he handed me the pamphlets. “I thought I would be ready for university next fall.”

“I thought you might do your first year in this fashion and then go on to attend classes in your sophomore year.”

“I’m ready now,” I said stubbornly. “At least while taking classes, I’d have something to fill up the empty days.”

He looked down, regretting having to leave me alone for so long every day.

“It’s not that, Carlisle,” I said, my voice harsh. “I’m not angry with you for going to work. If anything, I’m jealous of the connections you get to make. I want other interactions besides within this house and with you!”

We’d gone hunting that night, each of us taking our fill of the deer in the area and completely ignoring the hanging question in the air. He carefully avoided thinking about the hurt my words had caused him and I tactfully avoided bringing it up again. Because of that, we never resolved it. And so the correspondence pamphlets sat untouched alongside my school work until this morning when Carlisle brought the mail in.

You’re still serious about this, he said reproachfully in his mind.

I had seen the first of the admissions envelopes in his mind as he approached the house so I wasn’t surprised with his greeting.

“I thought I made it fairly clear to you that I felt ready for this, Carlisle,” I said, trying to remain calm and rational without losing my temper. It was getting easier.

“You’ve barely been around humans, Edward,” he said, rubbing his brow. “You think you’re just going to show up at Northland on your first day and be fine. You need to prepare for this.”

“I tried that!” I burst out. “The last time I tried to prepare myself, you pulled me back to the house even though I was in control and then wouldn’t speak trying again.”

He thought back on our time in Chicago when we had run across Mr. Freedman in the forest. He thought of my eyes and the way fear he had felt. He never truly accepted the fact that I was in control and I don’t blame him. I looked horrific that night. But I never felt in danger of running toward the scent and attacking. There had always been excuses after that and we had never gone back close to the city.

You’re right, he thought after a time. I’ve been unfair.

I nodded stiffly and turned away from him.

“I need you to trust that I’m ready for this. Of course I understand that I’m still a newborn, but I feel in control of myself and I’m ready to test that control.”

“Technically…you’re not a newborn anymore,” he said and I could hear the smile in his tone. “It’s been a year, Edward. Technically, you are no longer a newborn.”

Chapter 2 of The Little Fish by ShellWRX

“I think that’s a great idea. What do you say, Edward?” Bella asked me directly, pulling me from my thoughts. She had a knowing smirk playing on her lips indicating that she was well aware that I had no idea what she was talking about. “I’m sorry. What were you saying?” I asked. Ben started chuckling under his breath beside me. When Bella shot him a look, he straightened up and grinned at her. “Ben was just suggesting that you write an article about your experiences as a transfer student at West Beverly. I think it’s a good idea. So, what do you say?”"Oh, yeah. I guess that would be fine,” I mumbled.”Great. Have your first draft to me in a week,” she said matter-of-factly.”Yes, ma’am.” I smirked at her. She was cute when she was putting me in my place. I sat behind her again in French class. She smiled and said ‘hi’ as I walked in, but after that she focused her attention intently on the teacher and her note taking. I found myself once again focused on the pencil that she had twisted her hair up with. I noticed that the end was chewed up, probably a nervous habit. I wondered why she was nervous. I began to ponder when she had decided to put her hair up exactly. It was down during fifth period. We only had two other classes in between Journalism and French. I began to speculate about what other classes she might have. Then I began to wonder why I was even considering all of this about a girl I hardly knew. It was a dangerous train of thought.

Chapter 36 of The Man Who Can’t Be Moved by Jenny0719

He showed me around, pointing out all four bedrooms and the garden in the back, and then he showed me where the bathrooms were. I stared up at him as he opened the door to the bathroom in the hallway and said the words, “the loo” and felt an odd sense of nostalgia pass through me. The scene, albeit in London instead of Malibu, was identical to the day of my interview, only there were no awkward pauses or incessant thoughts of wanting to fuck him senseless.

Well, that wasn’t entirely true. I always had incessant thoughts of having sex with him, and I didn’t think that would change any time soon—if ever. But there wasn’t any of the guilt associated with it now.

He caught my shift and furrowed his brow. “Bella?”

“Sorry. I was just thinking about the day of my interview.”

“Ah. The day that changed my life.”

I rolled my eyes. “Edward.”

“You can’t deny it so don’t bother. I fell in love and got married. Those are two events that most people would consider life changing.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

He cupped the back of my neck and brought my lips to his, kissing me with a passion that had my head spinning in no time. My hands wound in his hair, and I moaned unabashedly into his mouth, making him grin and pull back.

“You’ve no idea how much I wanted you that day, baby. I thought I might go mad with it, with not being able to touch you.”

“I think I have a pretty good idea. I distinctly remember wanting to shove you down to the ground and have my way with you,” I said wickedly.

“How I wish you would’ve. You’d have saved me from weeks of trying to resist you. Obviously, my resistance was futile as here I am, utterly consumed by you.”

I was at a loss for words again, but it didn’t matter since Edward’s mouth was back on mine. His hand moved into my shirt, holding me to him, while his other hand left a trail of fire across my skin. His leg slid in between mine, rubbing me just right. I moaned and pushed against him, only to abruptly stop as a strange buzzing sound went through the apartment.

“That would be Alice.”

Chapter 41 of The Path We Choose by les16

BPOV

“Isa,” the handlers called in the midst of the chaos back stage. “You’re up soon, are you going to be alright?”

I took a deep breath, and tried to calm my nerves.

The night was surreal. There were people everywhere, pushing and shoving and yelling and screaming. I couldn’t believe this day was finally here. The day that, for five years, I hoped and prayed would come just so that I could get to tomorrow.

Tomorrow where I would be free. Tomorrow where I would begin the first day of the rest of my forever with Edward, Maddie, and Masen.

Without thinking about it, I stretched my thumb across my fingers and ran it over the Mother’s ring there; reminding myself that soon Maddie and Masen would be home with Edward and me…where they belonged. My other hand automatically reached up and held the heart pendant between my thumb and forefinger, rubbing the rough edges of the diamonds and using the sensation to keep me focused on what was important.

Edward. Maddie. Masen.

I repeated their names over and over again in my head, the mantra working its magic to keep me calm.

“Isa,” Aro said as he stood beside me. “You look absolutely stunning,” he said as he looked me up and down.

I blew out an embarrassed breath and rolled my eyes. I mean I was standing in front of the man, who for the last five years, held my future in the palm of his hands…while I wore the world’s skimpiest bikini. The man who, up until three weeks ago, treated me like a commodity instead of a person. I was having a bit of a hard time reconciling the pleasant man in front of me now to the man I thought I knew for the past five years.

“Thank you Aro,” I answered him as I rested my hands over my stomach where I would swear there were hundreds of butterflies floating around inside.

“Yes, Bella. You look lovely,” Jane said as she stood beside her father.

While my feelings towards Aro may have changed, my feelings for his daughter definitely had not.

I really just wanted the night to be over.

I had a feeling if we could make it through the night without incident, Edward and I would be well on our way to our forever.

As I finished with my makeup and hair and took my place in line, I couldn’t stop the feeling of foreboding that settled over me as I was about to step out onto the stage and underneath the lights.

“And now ladies and gentlemen,” the announcer said excitedly into the microphone, “Making her last appearance as a Volturi model and Twilight representative, may I present, Isa!”

I took a step onto the stage…and my world changed forever.

Chapter 26 of There Will be Blood by JohnnyBoy7

For the first time in my life, I didn’t care about all of this. Of course there was some tugging in the back of my head that was shouting ‘kill, kill!’ but I was able to suppress that as images of Bella began to take over. I wanted to go back home to her.

Go back home?

I shook my head to clear it and took off my jacket, folding it in the passenger’s seat. I got out of the car and walked into the warehouse.

Jasper, Emmett and Alec were sitting in chairs, not really doing anything.

“I thought we had things to do?” I said frustrated at the fact that I had to roll out of bed for this.

“We thought you might want to finish him.” Emmett pointed behind him at the man tied to another chair. He was breathing heavily, from his position and his body was almost completely blue; whether it was from the cold or the bruises, I didn’t know.

“Who is he?” I asked, rolling up my sleeves.

“Some guy that Aro uses. He has some good info about you.” Jasper raised his eyebrow.

“Meaning?”

“Meaning that Aro knows about Bella. She’s been the talk of their family dinners for quite some time now.”

“Shit.” I ran my hand through my hair.

“He sees her as your only weakness.” Alec answered.

I noticed his bloody knuckles that he was nursing.

“You have fun?” I nodded to him.

“It was…interesting.” Alec shrugged.

“That kid’s a beast.” Emmett hit his shoulder, “He took the guy out with one blow. It was awesome.”

“Who is this dude?” I asked and went over to the man who was cowering in his chair, dragging it to the middle of the room.

“His name is Daniel or something like that.”

“It’s David.” The man growled.

“How long have you worked for Aro?” I knelt in front of him.

“Six months, not long but I’m just a driver.”

“What do they know about Bella?” I asked.

I knew that service people like drivers, maids and cooks had the best information because no one thought anything of them. That’s why Carlisle had everything kept in the family. All of our servicemen were related by blood somehow and most of them couldn’t even speak English, being brought over directly from Sicily.

“They know that she’s yours.” He replied heavily, “Aro was suspicious when James got beat up and then Vienna told him the rest of what he needed to know. He had nothing to do with that shit on Halloween but now he knows about her.”

“And what is he thinking?”

“How should I know?” David tried to shift out of his seat but the ropes were too tight.

“Just answer me.” I pulled out my Eagle for show. I didn’t have the energy to care about this man.

“He wants to meet her. He wants to know what she’s all about and he wants to see how deep you are with her.” David rattled off.

“For what?”

I nodded in thought, “He’s honing in on me, isn’t he?”

“Yeah.”

“I don’t know why.” Jasper stood up, “Dad’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”

“Yeah but what if I was out of the way? It wouldn’t be the same.” I said.

“He’s not going to kill her. He isn’t that much of the devil.” David lifted his head, “Aro just wants to know who Bella is and make sure she’s not a threat.”

“That sounds better than it actually is.” Emmett sighed.

“Now that I gave you your information, can I go?”

“You’re not going anywhere.” I stood and pulled a rag out of my pocket, shoving it in David’s mouth.

The deep smell of oil was penetrating as Jasper poured it over David’s body that was now thrashing on the chair violently. He was screaming but his cries were muffled by the rag.

Alec and Jasper stood by as I fired up my lighter and threw it on David’s lap. His whole body was engulfed in a hot inferno within seconds. The scent of burning flesh was immediate and he was shouting so much that I could barley focus on my thoughts.

“I hate cleaning up after this.” I shuddered as I watched a piece of David’s skin literally melt off of his body.

Chapter 5 of To Have and To Hold by SweetT129

“I love you too, Bells,” Charlie replied, pulling his daughter into a hug. “I just want you to know,” he whispered directly into her ear so that only she could hear him. “I always thought that Jasper was the one man good enough for you. Lately, both of you seem a bit off, and I can’t put my finger on why. I’m hoping that it’s just because of your memory problems, and now that everything there is fixed, you two will both get back to normal. But I’m telling you right now, Bella, that if Jasper doesn’t treat you right, he’ll have me to answer to.”

Tears fell from Bella’s eyes as she heard her father’s words, and she wished that there was a way for her to tell him the truth. But she knew that Jasper would only be safe as long as she did what James told her to do. So she answered Charlie in the only way she could. “Jasper would never treat me wrong, Dad.”

Chapter 4 of Truths, Lies and Alibis by eternally addicted

I shifted my position slightly on his lap and instantly thought I was gonna die. The reaction my movement caused was unintentional, but I was acutely aware of what it had done to him. The hard evidence was right underneath me pressing into my backside. We hadn’t gone past anything more than a few heated make out sessions, and though he showed signs of having similar feelings for me, I was still afraid to trust them completely. It was a repercussion of relying on my abilities for so long. I wasn’t sure how I felt about taking things further. Obviously my body was screaming for me to give in to the hormones surging through me. I wanted to be able to give in and let go, but I didn’t know if I could. Even though he knew what I did for a living I still hadn’t told him about my real reason for my trip here and I was afraid that he’d freak out and leave. He’d indicated at lunch today that he wanted to continue our relationship when we were both back home, so I kept hoping that Emmett would call with news that the danger was gone and I could go home. Then I would never have to tell Edward.

I stilled my fingers in his hair and tried to remain as still as possible hoping that if I was it would allow him to calm as well. I decided to pretend I had drifted to sleep. I opened my eyes and looked up at him hoping to steal one last glance at his gorgeous face before I did so. However I was met with boiling pools of green that were focused entirely on me. Smiling softly at him I was stricken with the urge to lick my lips silently inviting him to kiss me. When had I become so bold, I thought.

He gently brushed back the hair from my face. Lowering his mouth to mine he claimed it in a heated kiss that flooded my body with desire. If that weren’t enough, one of his hands tangled in my long hair holding his face to mine, as the other slid up the back of my shirt caressing the bare skin while at the same time pulling me closer to him.

Without thinking I turned to straddle his lap causing him to moan as we went on kissing until we were out of breath. When we separated I hid my face against his neck. I had never acted so brazenly and was suddenly scared by my actions. I wanted him but it frightened me.

Chapter 16 of Unexpected Love by SweetLovinCullen

For the first time since Jacob’s attack I felt happy, I was laughing for the sake of laughing not for the sake of keeping up appearances and trying to hide, suddenly I felt a hand on my ankle.

“Smella, so help me god if you keep being a shit ref I’ll throw you in this pool”

I stuck my tongue out at Em, “You can’t I’m plastered and taped to the nines so no water for me”

“And you think that’ll stop me?”

Rose was still on Emmett’s shoulders and whacked him around the head, “Stop being an idiot and if you do throw Bella in this pool you’ll have me to put up with”

Em gulped theatrically and I had to laughed, I let go of Edward’s hand and fist pumped Rose’s offered fist, “Don’t mess with us Em, you’ll never win”

“Whatever Bells”

Em stalked away and the chicken fights continued Esme and Carlisle even joined in at one point and I was itching to get in the pool, climb onto Edward’s shoulders and fight it out, since everything had happened I knew one thing for sure I wasn’t one for sitting around I needed to be busy, I sighed and Edward put his arm around my shoulder shifting me closer to him.

“You okay baby?”

I nodded and rested my head on Edward’s shoulder, “I just want to be in there having fun”

I felt Edward’s lips on my hair, “A few weeks and you can be”

I smiled and looked at Edward, “Trust me as soon as all of this is gone I’m cannonballing into that pool”

Edward laughed, “I look forward to it”

Edward and I sat together legs dangling in the pool talking to each other, we both just zoned everything out and went into our bubble, only Emmett’s rude awakening popped it.

“OI! If you two lovebirds are quite finished making me barf Esme just called through saying dinners ready”

Chapter 7 of You Are My Life Now by Ishey-EJ

“I wish I knew why he is so distant towards me… I do not expect I real relationship, of course but… he should know that we are in this situation together; we are both going through a tough time—” I stopped when I saw Alice and Rosalie give each other knowing looks…They were having a silent conversation; they were hiding something! “Is there something I should know about?”

Alice shook her head very inconspicuously but I noticed. “Alice? What is it?” Why would she try to hide something… is it that dreadful? I looked at Rosalie, “Rose… please tell me… do I not deserve to know… I cannot live another second with him acting so harsh or with my guilt…” I pleaded with my tears pricking my eyes.

I needed to know!!

Chapter 19 of Your Voice Was All I Heard by Twimamma

A few parents were getting comfortable in the stands around me, but there was no one familiar among them. The coaches blew their whistles and the boys huddled expectantly on the field. Bending slightly with their hands on their knees, the mini Tom Brady’s and Eli Manning’s listened to their coaches with steeled intensity. Their little faces couldn’t have been more serious had they been professionals huddled up for fourth and goal during the final seconds of the Super Bowl. The whole scene was actually quite humorous, given their small statures and the fact that they were at pee-wee football practice. I had yet to see Tony, but the little squirts were so damned cute that I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my afternoon.

The boys began running simple drills up and down the field. I chuckled more than once as I watched them topple awkwardly over one another in eager scrambles for the ball. I was fully engrossed in one such skirmish when movement from the far end of the field caught my attention. My quickening heart told me who it was before my eyes had a chance to focus on his face.

Tony. I found you.

Air began to whoosh around my ears, drowning out the sounds of the junior scrimmage until it was just a dull echo in the background of my mind. I watched Tony run up to his coaches. They exchanged a few words, and then, with a pat to his back, he was pushed out toward the other boys. I studied him more intently as he joined his friends. He looked older and slightly taller, but all in all, he was the same kid I had met in the coffee shop. He lifted his helmet over his short bronze locks and fastened the chin guard. I was mesmerized by how gleeful he looked. It made me happy in a way that I couldn’t understand, but I welcomed the sensation just the same.

I was so overcome by watching him that I hadn’t noticed the young woman who had taken her seat next to me until her familiar voice sounded in my ear. “You know, Cullen, some might find this sort of behavior odd. Do you make it a habit to stare at other people’s children?” Alice didn’t look at all surprised to see me. I, on the other hand, was shocked as hell to see her.

“No, I suppose you don’t,” she said, answering her own question while I was still trying to stop my head from spinning. “So can I ask what you’re doing here, other than distracting the neighborhood watch moms? I know I told you to follow your instincts, but I must say that I’m a bit anxious to learn how they led you to pee-wee football practice.”

I glanced out at Tony on the field and nodded in his direction. “Him,” I said simply.
