We Miss LASMKE

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed…
We feel lucky to have seen it.

~Author Unknown

It is with a heavy heart that we make this post today. As you know, it’s never easy when someone leaves this world, and as you may have heard, one of our own is no longer with us.

LASMKE was one of the sweetest, funniest and most thankful people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting in this fandom; she will be truly missed.

What you all don’t know, is that she would have been joining us this week, offering her wonderful words to recommend one of the stories she loved for you; our readers.

Since she will no longer have the opportunity to do this, we wanted to do this for her instead and point you to the wonderful stories she wrote and shared with us.

May it be a reminder to tell the ones you respect, cherish and truly think of as your friends in our community that you appreciate them today, because tomorrow could be too late.

If you’ve not had the chance to read her wonderful stories – please do so – help us remember LASMKE through her gift for writing with these wonderful stories:

Expectations of Success
Script Kiddies
Small Town Gossip
The Apology

Feel free to leave any messages to Lisa in the comments below. We will be compiling them and passing them along to her family.

Every week, we close out our Friday rec post with this: “Thanks to everyone who gives us support, sends in their rec’s and just generally makes our lives in the fandom more entertaining. We couldn’t do this without all of you. We just want you to know that we really mean it, and that the friendships we share with you are truly treasured.

I didn't know Lisa, nor did I follow her stories. However, this has seriously touched my heart. It really opens your eyes to what's important…and that is living each day to the fullest. We really don't know what is in store for us, regardless of the plan we have in place. To Lisa's family, you are all in my prayers. I know none of you, but I know what loss is. And no matter the situation, having to mourn our loved ones is never an easy feat. My heart goes out to all of you.To the rest of this fandom. We all love to call it crazy, and hate it when it lets us down, but the reality is that it's always here. When one story finishes, another is waiting for our eyes to feast on it. So I want to thank all of you who make this fandom what it is. Although I've had to deal with my own trials and tribulations as a result, I wouldn't give it up. Not for anything.Hugs to all

Lisa,You didn't know it at the time, but you had reviewed my gift exchange fic. I was so excited, I actually squealed, when you wanted more. It took me a few minutes to write the small amount of words I did.You seemed to get along with many people. I wish I got to know you better other than a few comments on Twitter or a few LJ comments, but I could tell that you are a sweet, honest and funny person.I hope you are somewhere bringing laughter and joy like you brought to many people here. You will be missed greatly.Love, Kelly

What matters most is the people behind the stories. I think you all are wonderful for taking time out to remember a friend and comrade in the fic world.

I was fortunate enough to have found Lisa and her writing towards the very beginning of her "fanfic career". Trading silly reviews, review replies and PMs became a standard and I was happy to be amongst the ranks of her first few fangirls. She was sweet, funny, sarcastic, witty, and just real and that always came across in her writing. She tried angst, bless her little heart (as my grandma would say), but even at her angstiest, the sweet would come through. I am convinced that is because that was just an essential part of who she was. Whenever I've been asked for a "happy" fic rec, her story, Expectations of Success, has always been my standard reply. Her loss is more devastating than I would have ever thought possible for a person I've never actually laid eyes on but the pleasure of having known her, even in the limited capacity that on-line friendships allow, is what I will continue to hold on to. Lisa, you are loved, and your presence will be missed. ~Niki

Lisa was a bright light and if ever I was in need of a smile I would go back and read some of her chapters. I did not know her well at all. My impressions come from her words, either in her stories or her review responses. She impressed me as an upbeat, happy person who was able to find the silver lining to the blackest cloud. She will be missed. Sorry for your loss doesn't really convey my sentiments adequately. So I will just say that her words are still her and through them many others will get to know her, and to smile at those words.

I just met LASMKE a couple weeks ago when I read Small Town Gossip straight through in a matter of days. Any reader will tell you – there is nothing like getting a Review Reply from an author where they not only express appreciation but engage with you about their story. LASMKE and I had a dialogue going as I read and reviewed each chapter and she'd Review Reply. It was such a fun back-and-forth over the span of 3 days. Sharing that connection with LASMKE while reading her story – was one of those Great Moments in Fanfic for me. My heart goes out to her family and all of the members of our fanfic community who loved her or enjoyed her stories. She will be missed.– Althea(P.S. STG was such a sweet story, I highly rec.)

I had just read both Expectations of Success and Small Town Gossip within the last 2 weeks. Getting a review reply from Lisa was almost better than getting a story update alert. Her review replies were one of the few things that brightened my day as I was struggling with some personal issues. I was so looking forward to her next project. She was an incredibly talented author. In her review reply exchanges, I could tell she was a very sweet and funny person. The fandom will truly miss her.To Lisa'a family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. To me, she may have been an author who shared her stories and a small piece of her life, but to you she was sister/daughter/cousin/friend. She will be missed by many.

I'm truly sorry to hear about this.I did not know Lisa, and I actually have STG on my reading list, just haven't gotten to it yet. I wish I had read it sooner so that I could have had the opportunity to leave reviews and possibly interact with Lisa.I don't know what happened or how she passed away, but this is very heartbreaking to hear about. My thoughts and prayers will be with her friends and family.

I only knew Lisa through the kind thoughtful reviews she left on my story, yet word of her passing deeply saddened me, as I know it did many in the community. She will be missed and I'm glad we have her stories to remember her by. I hope her family knows how many people across the WORLD Lisa was able to touch in her time here with us, my thoughts and prayers are with them.

Lisa was a wonderful person who I had the pleasure of knowing, first through her writting, then with her lively review replies that always managed to make me smile regardless of how tiring my day had been. Then I got to know her a little more in the forum for her story "Small TOwn Gossip".She always paid attention to all my silly tirades and random comments, and always, absolutely always, replied in kind. She even took the time to read my short one-shot and comment it.I cannot begin to explain the sense of utter loss I feel. And, in the same way, I cannot imagine what her family is currently going through. But I do hope that they, as I do, can find some comfort in the knowledge that Lisa was loved and appreciated worldwide. She changed many lives and touched many souls with her words and her seemingly never ending joy.She will be missed, of course; but above everything else, she will be remembered.I, for one, will always remember the joy and encouragement her words were able to give me.

I both read Lisa's stories and spoke with her on the boards. She was funny and intelligent; talented and humble; sarcastic and sweet. I will miss her voice and friendship and her loved ones will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

well this is so sad I didn't know about her until yesterday and I found this kind of news. But I really want to give my deepest condolences to her family and even when I didn't know her or she knows about me recently my family and I lost three beloved person in a car accident too and I can understand I little bit the grief that they're going through. I hope that all these comments from people who really knows her give them a little peace and help them through this.

I knew LASMKE/Lisa through her stories. I loved Small Town Gossip and Expectations of Success. She always responded to reviews. We would PM and discuss our love for Ten, (Dave Tennent). She was smart, funny and a sweet woman and will be sorely missed. Rose: Doctor, they've got guns. The Doctor: And I haven't. Which makes me the better person, don't you think? They can shoot me dead, but the moral high ground is mine!
