What Happened to…

You wouldn’t believe how many emails and requests we get, asking us what happened to fics that have seemingly disappeared. Let’s just say it’s a bunch, lol.

We know how frustrating it can be when you’re looking for one of your favorite stories, only to find that it’s been pulled or just isn’t there anymore. We have a few tips to help you in your quest.

Check the Author’s Profile

Sometimes authors remove the story from FFn and post elsewhere, like ADF, TWCS, or their own site. We’ve found that authors usually let their readers know what’s going on. The story may have been reposted (we know of this happening at least twice), so the first place you should check is on the profile page where you originally read the story.

Check with the Author Directly

Drop the Author of your favorite story and email or send him/her a PM. How ’bout a shoutout on twitter? We’ve found the best route is often a direct route.

Check a List of Pulled/Moved Fics

TwificCentral has a listings of Fics that Have Moved and Fics that Have Been Pulled. We’re sure other sites have them, too. This is a great resource for finding the fics that you are looking for.

Check the Twific Database

This database is intensely comprehensive. They have tons of completed favorites, as well as some that are incomplete. If they don’t have it, they will usually try to find it for you. Instructions to Access the Database can be found here.
